Is Ingram trying to hard or does he just stink? We did not see it last year and his offensive game is below average this year. He just turned 20 and Magic put a ton of pressure on him, but he's not showing a skill set that suggests superstar in the slightest. When D-lo rolls for 25-7-5 this season and makes the All Star Team in 2020...well, nevermind, what do I know?

The problem with BI is that when he tries to force the issue, his lack of strength becomes even more apparent. I don't think he understands this, and if he doesn't, someone needs to talk to him about it. You're not muscling around these grown men, all 160 pounds of you. They seemed to have control of the game until he came in. Irritating.

I don't think magic has an eye for talent, is it Magic pressuring Pelinka into saying his off limits or does Pelinka see something too?

I'm not saying Ingram won't be a star btw.

A big issue with Ingram seems that the organization now looks at him as our eventual number one option (disregarding any potential free agents that'll come in). This isn't much different from any other bad team with players chosen with high draft picks. Difference with Ingram is that it seems like we need him to be that guy NOW. Every other team makes it clear for a player like him (a project) that theres no rush to be "the" guy, just take a day at a time and keep working and playing within yourself and the team.

Being the #2 pick on the Lakers of course is different, and it makes it worse when one of the two greatest Lakers of all time is talking you up almost if not more than Lonzo Ball. I'm sure reasonable fans weren't expecting him to be a star this season or anytime soon, he's still way underdeveloped, despite the skill and tools being there. However, I think he feels more pressure now that we have a reasonable foundation to build off of, and he wants to produce results

Magic doesn't have an eye for talent ("I would chose Brandon Knight #1 overall"). Pelinka was clearly the one who decided to pick Kuzma the first chance he got, think Pelinka has a better eye. Fortunately for us it seems Pelinka has a good relationship with Magic and Magic himself doesn't seem much of a dictator, otherwise we'd see more the classic Jim/Kupchak way of things.

Ingram is playing out of control... needs to slow the game down. He's trying to hard and forcing things. Let the Game come to you young fella.

Yeah, all that, I'm simply referring to the fact that his shot is ugly, his fundamentals are missing, he's not a notable passer or rebounder, he does not have the personality of a leader which leaves his ball handling and defense as his most notable skills. His teammates think the same so clearly I'm not seeing what they see. A reporter asked Jordan the other day who he would pick from the Lakers to form a 3 man team and he said, "Zo and Brandon".

Randle's defense was solid again this game...

Alex Caruso has been very impressive too. His on the court decisions are exceptional. I like Ennis as well.

Everyone is telling him to be aggressive... so he puts his head down, starts flappin' his feet and aims in the general direction of the basket. LOL

I said it when he was drafted, he's going to take at least 3-4 years before we see what he can be , or not be. Lol

BI may be feeling the pressure of Kuzma. Slow down young man...slow down.

Not sure which one it was, maybe Pelton, over on ESPN projected Ingram as a 3 and D player.

Lol, some think he'll be a star, so he'll either be one or he won't.

I personally see a very solid player after all's said and done. But don't know about star.

With one game left, my thoughts on the team:

KCP - He is what he is. Good D, shot is not adequate for a starting 2 in this league

Lonzo - Incomplete. Tried too much passing I thought. Shame he didn't get more time.

Lopez - Has look good in the two games back. Want to see him with Lonzo on the pick-and-pop

Julius - He is a bench player in today's NBA. A solid bench player, but the outside shot is not adequate for today's game.

BI - probably the most disappointing Laker so far. Just doesn't seem to "feel" the game. Zigs when he should Zag.

Jr. - Looked ok in the starting line up, but still needs to work on his shot. Funny how both Julius and Larry has two different games (power vs athleticism) but the same flaw.

Innes - Has been ok as a back up. That is probably his ceiling.

Caruso - Has looked good. I am surprised. I would like to see him start next game if Lonzo can't go and keep Innes working with the 2nd squad.

ZOObie - Has looked better in the preseason than the Summer League, but he set the bar pretty low there. Still very young.

Kuz- Love his attitude and swagger. I think someone said it best on this site, but he seems like a pick the Spurs would have made. (low level pick that turns out to be a diamond in the rough).

Deng - he is still on the team. damn!

Clarkson and Hart - JC has been ok, but he can go. I think in a few years Josh will be a much better option off the bench. He might not provide as much scoring, but he will definitately be a much better defender.

Overall as a team, it is clearly obvious that we will not be in the playoff this year barring major injuries to other team. If we can show a 10 win improvement by getting our defense to at least passable I will be happy.

Teams that will make the playoff in the west ahead of us : GSW, Houston, Spurs, OKC, Denver, Clips, Jazz, T-Wolves, Trailblazers. (These are 9. We might get ahead of one of them, but not two.

JMHO.

Pretty solid assessment. I think you could throw the pelicans in that list too if they can figure things out.

I agree with this though Zo and Lopez have not yet played together and that will be a partial team changer. Management speaks of leadership, but it goes further than that given that there is no stability on the court, no center reference point. The person who has done that the best so far is Caruso! He puts himself and the ball in the best position for his teammates to respond and benefit. He's not a great athlete therefore his success is coming from his on the court management and intelligence. Given that teams have to be concerned with the Lakers 4 and 5 hitting three pointers when Kuzma is on the floor, that lineup ought to be v-e-r-y effective against most defenses given that the other three players are above average scorers too imagining Randle or Ingram, Clarkson and Lonzo in that lineup. Defenses will be out of position so dump the ball in the middle and they'll be guards covering bigs.

I consistently toss Luke into the mix of questionable thinking as his line ups and timing rarely make sense. TIRED of hearing Lakers coaches for the past 5 years say, "We're gonna experiment with lineups to see which combinations are best." Make a decision! His crew also seem to drop the ball when it comes to teaching fundamentals. Randle and Ingram are not improving because their teachers are focusing upon skills rather than fundamentals. You have to understand grammar too if you want to read a book!

Speaking of Caruso, I was not aware that a two way contract can be updated.

"Caruso is on that two-way contract, so once training camp for the G League starts, Caruso can only spend up to 45 days with the Lakers throughout the course of the season, unless the Lakers have a roster spot open and they sign him to a contract."

Given the 4 SG's, I doubt that they also go with 3 PG's. There is some doubt about Bogut's status, so the final roster spot remains up for grabs.
