Wow, Danny Ainge is at it again. He swaps the first pick and only moves down two spots and picks up our next years number one from Philly which figures to be a very high pick yet again.

From his choice of Stevens as coach, to his fleecing of the Nets, the acquisition of Isiah Thomas, all his trades, right down to this latest one, he is proving to be a Master of the GM craft. Who would have thought the scrappy shooting guard of the eighties would turn into this? He is helping the Celtics way more than anything he did during a very good career.

Ainge looks not only the best GM in the NBA but maybe all of sports.

Have to disagree, don't think he got enough. The protections on next year's pick are crazy, they only keep it if lakers end up in 2-5 range. And if the lakers improve marginally, they'll be out of that range. I think he dropped the ball on this one.

I'll reserve judgement until he actually does something with all those picks. But does have franchise headed in right direction.

Ainge is making great moves in trades, but his drafting is terrible.

Couldn't have said it better kk.....maybe he gives up a few picks for Butler.

Ainge is doing a great job as a GM. Put together Pierce, Allen, KG, then flipped KG and Pierce for Nets 2 FRPs. Traded for IT and signed Horford. Best GM in the NBA let alone all sports? I don't think so.

I would have to give best GM in NBA to RC Buford of the Spurs. Has won 5 titles as GM. Sure, Pop has a lot to do with the success of the Spurs and the GM is not single-handedly responsible. But... he flipped George Hill into Kawhi Leonard and was able to sign Aldridge.

Maybe this explains why Celtics traded down.

Celtics,

If they don't get the lakers pick next year they get sacramentos which figures to be pretty high. I would swap two places in this draft to get that pick. Now if a Karl Town's was there, no. But the top four guys this year are all bunched up tight.

For me the bottom line in looking at Ainge is this: He took over a crap team. He hired a coach out of college who I would only take Pop's over today if I was hiring anyone I wanted. In a very short period of time that lousy team made the playoffs and this year was the number one seed.

That's not easy, as we all know since we have had a crap team for a while and will most likely have another next year.

And then take that number one seed and throw in seven first round picks in the next three year. That's seven.

That's pretty impressive stuff.

His real reputation will be cemented either way after those three years and picks have been spent or traded.

But based on what he's done so far I would rank him right with the Spur and Golden State for front office acumen.

But if that was true don't you think the Celtics would have already done that trade. Or traded the first pick for butler when they had it.
