I saw it but his father came out right after that saying he was misquoted. Stated he would like for his son to play for the Lakers not say he wouldn't play for any other team.

His dad has a big mouth. I hope it doesn't run in the family.

So #5 beat #4. Does that mean they will move up the ladder? Big pair of road wins for the boys in blue. Ball had a good game considering his bad ankle.

Should move up to #4 ,but for some reason I still see Oregon in brackets ahead of them for tournament. Have UCLA going to East in early brackets.

Had heard you guys talking about Ball, and a few of the other top candidates in the lotto. But never saw him play until you posted the highlight reel. Wow. Kid is exactly what we need. But then what happens with Russ? Moves to the 2? Trade? Anyways, and what happens when everyone in the league knows we're going to for Ball if we get into the lottery, and Boston or Brooklyn takes him just to spite us so we don't get him?

No need worrying about all that. Whatever happens....happens. Just hope we stay in the top 3 when it's all said and done. Once the lottery balls start to spin, hope it goes in our favor. IMO, the league still owes us for that CP3 debacle....that's just me though..lol.

Yeah, that could happen, think Ball might be pushing his way to top of draft. And other teams seem to be in full tank mode now. Phoenix, while losing last 2 games with missed FT's, has being keeping Chandler on bench, Philly just announced Embiid and Simmons out for season. Can only hope Lakers move up to #1 or #2 , because at 2 , team that gets 1st pick might not want to deal with Ball's father if they pick him and not let him fall to lakers. And yes !!! You move Russell to 2, even more convinced of that after seeing Ennis at PG and Dlo at Sg yesterday.

On another note, with Embiid out so much this season, does anyone think Ingram has a chance to take rookie of the year???

I am sure everyone here agrees with you. But do you honestly believe the league give a dammmm about the Lakers fortunes anymore? Since it became the billionaires club, there's too much money and influence around. Buss might have been the best and probably richest owner at the time. But not anymore...and you know what they say...money talks...

Exactly what I was wondering... The NBA is moving towards a two PG or two SG backcourt so it hardly matters depending on the coach and half court sets.

As an aside, Orlando has shifted Aaron Gordon to the PF position where he is operating much better. It seems the Lakers have both offensive set issues and players out of their optimal positions. Luke is trying to figure out whether Ingram is a Power Forward a small forward or a Point Guard. Is Swaggy a 2 or a 3? Is D-Russ and Clarkson a 1 or a 2? For a player to know their role, they surely have to know their position.

Still think the league wants big city teams to be good. Pop pretty much said it after game yesterday. And considering last draft, when Mutombo congratulated Sixers for when draft before they started announcing lottery order, I'm being to wonder!!!! Lol

I must say this, me being in the south, don't get a chance to watch college bball out on the west coast, but that being said, happen to see some highlights of Markelle Fultz. That dude is the real deal...my goodness.

Yeah, but he's already having knee problems, and while he doesn't have the same talent around him as some of the other top players in draft, he hasn't done anything to make his team better. Even Dlo got Ohio state to tournament with a less talented team.

The talent I see in him is not what I saw in D-LO at all. This kid is special.

I think there is a difference though. A guy who puts up stats versus a guy who does things to help his team win. I get that Fultz doesn't have great help, but if he was this next level talent, Washington shouldn't be that bad. Ball took Chino Hills( a public high school not even known for sports) to the #1 ranking in the country. That's a winner right there. Last guy who took a no name school to #1 was LeBron. Its an easy choice for me if Lakers have to pick between the two. Lonzo Ball all the way. He fits perfectly into what Luke wants to do.

Well if LA ends up with the #2 pick again and has to take Fultz, I won't complain one bit at all..

If they lose out on Ball I'm not sure yet where I'd go with the pick. Not convinced about Fultz either. Maybe a SF. Would be a kinda sticky spot if they lose out on Ball really. Even tho taking him would also make a sticky with Russ. I think if they get Ball then you look for a trade for Russ for another pick. Or predetermine he's going to the 2 and move Clarky.

Then again the boards say otherwise...

Will have to try and check out a Fultz game one of these days...

Just went here to watch some video...

http://www.draftexpress.com/nba-mock-draft/2017/

Now I'm starting to think Fultz has a better arc to his shot, is more athletic, smoother off the dribble, more variety/less predictable moves. Might be leaning that way now, based on a few mins of video lol. Arghhhh....IF we go for a PG.

I agree we need one, but we could also swap Ingy for Jackson, who looks most impressive to me so far of all the top prospects, watching video summaries. Tatum is also impressive but more another iso ball guy and we have enough of those. He's going to want the ball and that will (in Lakers game theory 101) stop the ball again. Which we're all tired of seeing. And I think he'll get eaten up in the NBA. Has a lot of Kobe and Dirk moves tho lol.

Overall I'm liking the stretch bigs more than the PG's in this draft.

I just posted in another thread about whether Ball is really the best option for the Lakers. I was watching game tape of Ball and there was a lot i didn't like. The things that he is good at (passing, vision, pushing the pace) he is on another level. But there are other things he really needs to either work on or put more effort into (PNR defense, Finishing at the rim, aggressiveness to the basket, less standing around at times).

If Lakers end up with the 3rd pick, I think it would be a toss up between Josh Jackson and Dennis Smith. Both have offensive upside but also both are good defenders. We have enough players with offensive potential. Let's get some defense...or not? lol. What do i know. ha.

Yeah but have you seen Jackson, who's listed as a Point Forward, pass? With his height? Snappy, crisp, dead on, fast, clever, creative. Like him best atm. But we do need a PG so....

Been watching the college games as much as I can and Lonzo Ball and Josh Jackson would be my choices as well.

Now I'm starting to get interested in who we pick up with our late first... there are a couple good shooting guards from Villanova that might be good pickups if still there.

Smith just got destroyed tonight on defense, and it wasn't the 1st time. Lol

If you get Ball then no way you pass him up. His court vision is probably even better than Simmons. I would unleash RUss as the Sg/secondary ball handler.

Agree, and don't think they will pass , if they have a chance to get him.

Though I have to say MAGICLAKEZ, this lottery night has me nervous. Last couple of draft I've had a pretty good feeling about keeping pick, this one has me worried. Lol

If they stay at #2 I'm quite sure they would pick top three. Somehow I feel we are destined for Ball. It's no secret Magic and other teammates are already preparing for him.

Yeah Pete, I agree. Only drawback I see is his son will have a target on his back next season. Every player matched up against his son will be trying to prove his father wrong. Lol

Good interview. Like how he'd get lakers back on top. Even if it is unlikely to happen. Lol
