I'm glad he's going to a contender but the return we got for him seems so low considering that Houston's pick will most likely be near the bottom of the first round.

OK, like the pick, but why Brewer, he's got another year left on his contract too.

Weren't getting a pick in teens. Think pick was about right. Other teams probably had protection on pick, so it probably wouldn't have been much higher.

My thoughts exactly. I'm sure we could have gotten an expiring contract.

I would've wanted KJ or a pick that could be higher. Charlottes or Washington's pick?? Missed opportunity. #FireMagic

Rumors were Washington wanted protection on their pick. They have 24th pick right now, maybe they wanted top 25 protection.

Yeah no protection on the pick. That's not a bad deal after all.

Lou will have fun playing for Dantoni. lol

I'm going to miss Lou, he was so much fun to watch! I wonder how this is going to effect the tank?

Another thing to consider is how well we've drafted (deep in the draft)

A guy to keep an eye on that may be available at that spot is Villanova's Josh Hart, he does everything for that team

Kind of hoping they can package it with Deng or Mozgov and send it and one of them off into the sunset.

I'm thinking the same thing. If you're rebuilding the plan is to clear cap space, the Lakers took on more. No way this was the best deal available.

Maybe they weren't worried about cap space, maybe it was best deal to get unprotected pick. But who knows???

This is a pure tank move, from everything i've been reading every other team was offering a top 20-25 protected pick which is not ideal, it looks like this is the best deal they could have gotten for Lou.

Realistically that 7mil cap space isn't going to mean much next year, unless we unload Mozgof or Deng. We are not contenders next year. And I assume we probably didn't get any offers for a 1st round and a expiring contract.

Deal is decent, makes us worst, we got a pick, and his contract will be over before our team is able to compete for the playoffs.

I'm rooting for rockets losing for rest of the season and hopefully a first round exit. Lol.

Lou's deal was also expiring next year so that angle doesn't hold much weight. I agree it's a tank move. Without Lou it's possible they don't win a game the rest of the season.

I disagree, that $7 mill would have ensured enough cap space to offer any player a max deal. Not that any such player would want to come here right now lol so maybe you are right.

Doesn't matter where they finish in playoffs, it's only regular season record that determines the draft order. Hopefully the clippers can overtake them.

Brewer's contract is similar to Lou's so it doesn't really hurt the Lakers that much. 1st round pick could be traded along with Deng or Mozgov. Could the Lakers facilitate a 3 team deal using the pick and maybe a 2nd rounder they received prior from the rockets?

I think overall, the pick and brewer can be assets. Let see what else Magic can pull out of his hat.

I'm rooting that Lou wants to grow a beard after seeing Harden's and the wind friction slows him down. Then Harden gets so upset with Lou that he starts missing 53%! After that Howard wants to come back and they trade for him again after missing the playoffs

Ok I will root for regular season losses then. Thanks.

I am also hoping Boston overtakes them since they are 2 and a half games behind.

I guess Brewer can be a decent defensive role model. I would have held out for KJ McDaniels though.

How many drafts have been projected to be deep the last few years yet they never live up to the hype.

Picking so late in the 1st barely changes from year to year.

It's 26th or 27th right now. Hopefully they lose more games in the regular season

Thanks, so basically it's a second round pick...

Lou makes Houston a lot better and the Lakers are now substantially worse... This is an indirect way of assuring more losses and justifying playing the rooks.

Now, if Butler were available do the Lakers pass to keep the pick? Maybe they could tell the league that his physical is gonna take two months...

It's worse than a 2nd. 1st rounders are guaranteed contracts.

I would hope they dangle that pick as a hanging carrot to dump Mozgov and Deng.

Lakers haven't done a bad job drafting late in the draft, last few years. With A. Brown being the exception.

I don't think it's worse. A first round pick that late in the first isn't worth that much money. Plus it's only guaranteed for 2 years with a 2 year team option. I'm sure happy Nance is going to be on a rookie deal the next two years. While a 2nd round isn't guaranteed, you could run into a situation like Clarkson where he's a free agent after 2 years. Having this guaranteed 1st round pick also opens up potential trade opportunities since you can't trade consecutive 1st round picks. Now if we land a top 3 pick and a team is willing to toss us a deal we couldn't refuse, we can now trade that pick because we have Houston's 1st.

Second round finds, Mitch's only accomplishments. You gotta have Mojo to recognize Mojo. Really glad Frick and Frack are gone.

From what it sounds like those 2nd round finds are credit to Ryan West, Joey & Jesse more than Mitch & Jim
