What if the Lakers somehow someway end up with LeBron and Durant?

I'm not against him coming to the Lakers, he is still the best player in the league. But at what cost? Is it worth blowing up the youth for a tiny window of a championship run?

If he signs for $15/20 million, sure. Plenty of help can be signed while keeping the youth.

But if it meant trading pieces away similar to the Wiggins/love scenario then I say pass.

I stated on another thread that I personally don't know how to feel about it. That being said, If it did happen as long as it doesn't handicap us, sure.

PS,

I honestly don't freakin know!!!!!!...lol.

He was already quoted as saying he'd sign for less to play with friends. So if they all take less on 2 or 3 year contract, don't think we have to worry about youth. Although at some point I think Lakers will look to trade 1 of the core if it means getting young star back, whether LBJ comes here or not.

Well the clippers will have just as much if not more cap space than the Lakers in 2017 IF Paul and Griffin both opt out. If the cap rises to $108 million, they would have $26 million on the books, Jordan and Pierce. So $82 million to spend. That is enough to get LBJ, CP3, Wade, quite easily. Melo can ask for a buyout if he wanted to join "the brotherhood".

As for the Lakers young core, I have no idea what the FO thinking is. We will get a small indication draft night. Especially on how they actually do view Russell.

After that, if no stars sign in FA then I think they stay the course for another year.

Exactly, I said earlier that I think LBJ stays in Cleveland another year, Woj wrote that LA has a chance to sign him, but he didn't say which LA team. As far as youth, I didn't mean necessarily this year, as far as trading any of them. But your right, we'll find out draft night.

Stepen A Smith did mention it was the Lakers. But then again the Clips have more to sell than we do.

Unless LeKing wants to be the "saviour of lost franchises," he won't touch the cursed Clippers with a ten foot pole. Even I, trying to follow the Clippers, was run out of Dodge and sent packing. (Long story.)

Clippers will win a NBA Title when Hell freezes over -- that exact date is June 27th, 2177. Want to wait around?

Wojnarowski said LA team, and I trust him more than SAS.

Yes he said that's what he's hearing that the Lakers are a potential and that LBJ is enrolling his kids out in Brentwood. Again, he said that's what he's heard before people go off the deep end....lol.

There's just something about the Clippers...I think they're cursed....lol.

Stephen A is a wack. The guy just wants to generate headlines every year since the Lakers have been bad he has said there is "a real possibility" some star player ends up in LA. Don't believe it for a second. LeBron isn't going anywhere. He is the king of Cleveland with a great roster and Kyrie who is still getting better and Love who is also still well in his prime or can be flipped for another guy in his prime. Would make zero sense to leave especially after how much he was ridiculed after leaving the first time.

No the clips don't. No team in the nba has to sell what we have. We're about to have 2 young guys with super star potential in Ingram and russell, 2 young guys with all star potential in Clarkson and Randle, a legit 6th man whose proven in lou wiillaims and enough capspace to bring in lebron, KD and a vet to boot. We have a young coach whose won championships ad a player and a coach and has a really good system ready to be implemented. We have the glitz, the glamor and the marketing for potentially huge business opportunitis outside of basketball. On top of all that, others players WANT to be in LA and would come to play with lebron in a second. But the biggest thing to wrap your mind around is this, lebron will be in his prime a good 4-5 years, KD a good 7/8 years, with the young fellas, their championship window stays open until they hang them up. That's what looks good to the big fish

LBJ is already on the decline. He has 4-5 years left in the league never mind his prime, barring no major injuries. KD is already in his prime and will be for the next few years. I think his game will age better than lebrons. An athletes prime only lasts 3 or 4 years, some age a little better than others. Kobe being a prime example.

Ha ha, you think LBJ needs to be LA for marketing and business opportunities, he could live in the Antarctica and still be just fine. Lol

And all those players you listed are unproven, plus we don't even have Ingram yet. LBJ, KD , players like that want to win now, not in a few years waiting to see if young core turns into what you said.

That team would be the favorite to win the title right off the bat. And they could always trade a couple of the young guys for a boogie or cp3 too. The options are limitless. And lebron brand will travel anywhere he goes, that's true, but no matter what you think, his brand WILL do even better in LA than anywhere else. LeBron is a smart guy! He knows what the deal is, it's just whether or not he feels like leaving cleveland. Dud you see durant is meeting with teams in LA to discuss free agency pitches from teams?

Yeah, because Durant lives in LA in the offseason, probably 30 to 40% of the players have homes in LA, doesn't mean they're going to play there. And as far as his brand, you right, but I think LA is 2nd to NYC.

It has been reported that Lebron has enrolled his kids in a school in LA.

Now the Clippers would be the more practical route if he was trying to get his big 4. Basically trade Blake and Jordan for Melo and Wade and sign James.

However I believe wade leaving Miami was like Kobe leaving Lakers, I believe that big 4 would have to happen in Miami.

I think there is a chance he could come to Lakers and I would welcome it, however my money is that he stays in Cleveland.

I like James' on and off the court but I don't want him anywhere near LA. James coming to LA means trading young guys and bringing/signing vets. Then we will be rebuilding in about three years. Lets develop the young guys we have. We just might have the second or third best group of young players behind minny and philly depending on who they trade for.
