I think LA has 1 Walton 2 Ollie 3 messina. I would prefer we go get ollie. If we involve him in player personnel (not full control like thibs wanted) I think with the LA background he will consider leaving.

IMO before they start the coaching carousel again, they need a new GM. That should be their top priority now. But I doubt they have the balls to do it...therefore who they get in a way doesn't matter. Since Mitch and Jimmy will sabotage all their efforts to improve the team. These guys are all skating on the past. Just like LA aka Hollywood. Time to move on. But again, I don't think they can. They're stuck in a time warp, just like LA/Hollywood is. So I'm not very optimistic about their prospects for some time. Unless they can wake up and join the 21st C. The only good thing so far is Vitti is finally gone. So that's one dinosaur away. Now to get rid of the other few, and then maybe things will start to improve.

The search for the next Los Angeles Lakers head coach is underway after the organization fired Byron Scott on April 24. The Lakers fired Scott after two seasons with the team and did so without having a replacement waiting in the wings, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical.

Continue for updates.

Ollie Denies Interest in Lakers Job

Friday, April 29

"Basically [Kevin] Ollie, he's texted me before 9:00 every day this week," 2016 recruit Christian Vital said, per Evan Daniels of Scout.com. "Just letting me know about the Lakers situation and that he loves me and he's staying at UConn. That really means something to me, to have that kind of relationship with the head coach, knowing he has a million things to do."

Mark Medina of the Los Angeles Daily News first reported Ollie could be interested on April 25.

Medina reported the Lakers would not need to seek permission to interview Ollie, although doing so is seen as a "common courtesy." However, there are issues with Ollie's contract if the Lakers did choose to hire him, per Medina:

Ollie has three years left on his contract with UConn after signing a five-year extension in 2014. But with former Huskies athletic director Warde Manuel leaving for the University of Michigan earlier this season, Ollie has a clause in his contract that would allow him to leave for another team without needing to negotiate a buyout, according to sources familiar with the terms. A source added, however, those terms would not go into effect until March 2017

It's not going to happen. Scott was Mitch's scapegoat. Mitch is Jim's.

If the Lakers don't make the playoffs Mitch will be blamed and Jim will get an extension to the "deadline".

The Los Angeles Lakers' coaching search is well underway, with the team asking for and receiving permission to have meetings with Luke Walton and Ettore Messina so far, while also planning to sit down with former Cleveland Cavaliers head coach David Blatt.

There is still no word on when the front office plans to meet with Messina and Blatt, but according to team reporter John Ireland, the Lakers have already met with Walton and it "went well."

"Let me tell you the latest on the Lakers' coaching search, because I think it's good, particularly if you're a fan of Luke Walton. They've met, they've talked, it went well," began Ireland.

One of the most widely assumed reasons Walton may not take a head coaching job this summer is that uncertainty over Kerr's health, Ireland sounds like he thinks things look promising on that front:

I think the fact that the Warriors have granted permission for the Rockets and the Lakers to talk to Luke Walton is a sign that they're willing to let him go, and I think, just connecting dots, that if he gets offered the Rockets' job, the Knicks' job, the Kings' job, and the Lakers' job, that he would take the Lakers' job. I said before that I thought it was 60 percent Luke, 30 percent Ollie, 10 percent other, I'd now up it to 70 percent."

It sounds like the Lakers have only had one meeting so far and no decisions have been made on either side, but it appears the Lakers are wasting no time in a coaching search they hope to have wrapped up before free agency.

I don't know what to make of this. It sounds like they picked Walton before even hearing what he had to say or any of the other guys for that matter.

I hope he is as good as we all hope he is.

Walton has been picked. My favorite pick so I am happy. Specially since Ollie reported said he was not interested in job.

Wow, that was quick, that was unexpected, that was amazing. I honestly thought Luke would stay with GS, and we'd get Messina, which I was absolutely ok with. Kudos to Lakers Nation, the FO made a wonderful move getting Luke, and i'm so glad we have a coach who understands the current structure of the NBA. Next, is the draft. May luck stay on our side.

Honestly, if the Lakers could somehow get that number 1 pick, Ben Simmons is the only choice at this point. I'm extremely confident in Luke's ability to mold a group of Russell, Clarkson, Randle, and SImmons together.

Well you guys got the guy you wanted lol. I'm honestly not the slightest bit thrilled with this decision but as a fan I'll support it and will be hoping for nothing but the best.

Yeah I don't understand the need to jump in this fast, was anyone else even interviewed?

I'm not disappointed, just thought it would be a more thorough search/process.

I think Messina might of but I'm not sure. I honestly think they went into this with their mind already made up.

Well this is make or break for the FO. If it pays off they look like geniuses, if it fails they are both fired.

Wait they offered him the job and he took it already? Wtf? So much for a protracted search lmao. I'm not a huge fan of that idea if it's happened. It may be great, but I think Luke coming into an unknown, with no system in place, to remold players into a different system, if he even has his own thoroughly worked out as yet. On both ends of the floor. Luke was never the greatest D player either btw. So it might come down to who his asst's are, and they better be good. So I dunno. I'll have to wait and see, but I'd have preferred Messina or Blatt. I never believed JVG or Ollie was coming here. They've both turned it down before when we had a better team. Why would they take it now?

Yay no more stupid Byron Scott comments! "They better be really to play some defense" "were gonna play old school basketball" "wouldn't want to be with them in a foxhole" so many.

Luke is going to develop guys so much better. All the players respected him so much in golden state even though he is still young.

I have to admit it is a good look. Happy Days are Here Again?.....Maybe....lol....Time will tell.
