Just a basic running diary for the 2016 All Star Weekend in Toronto.

Discuss the rising star rookie/sophomore game, celebrity game, Skills/Dunk/3 pt contest, main ASG. Any other all star related discussion or conversation (like all star sneakers/gear) which might be of some interest to you. Discuss who (in your opinion) deserved/did not deserve to be an all star.

Follow the lakers(Kobe-Final all star appearance /D-LO /JC) in Toronto and feel free to add pic/videos/tweets/ YouTube Etc.

Don't hesitate to discuss the tank either...just kidding..lol. We have a separate dedicated thread to address those concerns Smile

I'm sure Popovich is ecstatic to be in frigid Toronto. He probably wishes he was on a beach in the Bahamas right now sipping pina coladas.

This is awful basketball to watch. lol. There is no defense(which the lakers employ), and then there is this. Suddenly I am reminded why I haven't paid attention to All Star Weekend in like 10 years.

It's not so bad. Just think you are watching the current lakers with no defense (like you mentioned), but with some acceptable basketball system on offense. Makes for some better viewing at least on the offensive end. Plus you don't have the fear of these youngsters being benched for taking over the game..lol.

I enjoy all star weekends always have, it's a celebration of the game and showcasing of the elite stars selected by the fans, for the fans.

Lavine won but the creativity of Gordon, OMG!!!!!!!!!!....Best dunk contest I've seen a while. Reminded me of MJ and Dominique.

I agree, Gordon's dunks were the best I've ever seen. His behind was 8 feet off the ground and he wrapped the ball underneath himself before dunking the ball. Historic!!

Dunk contest should have end in tie. Hope Gordon and Levine comeback next year. But they need to do something about points system. Maybe give points in two different categories. Creativity and difficulty and extra point for making it 1st time.

No way Lavine should have won. Gordon got robbed. Gordon's dunks were more innovative and creative...stuff we have never seen before in the dunk contest, he had the props, his difficulty level was way higher and he had the more attractive intro/entrance. Lavine's dunks were repetitive and nothing new we had not seen before.

Judges were absolutely incompetent out there as it should never have gone beyond that round where he did the revolving mascot routine. Both the Gordon dunks involving the mascot were sick and brought the house down.

I probably rate Gordon's dunks the best ever, IMHO they even eclipsed Jordan, Dominique and carter. He is the real bionic man in the NBA..lol. Try to see those dunks again, Gordon got way higher and got more elevation, while Lavine barely got any lift in those last two attempts. Gordon has revolutionized the art of dunking in the dunk contest. Lavine deserved it last year but this year was all Gordon.

Here's a 5 minute interview with Wiggins, D-Russ and Clarkson from the night before. It's hilariously stupid including stupid question and stupid answers. Go ahead and waste five minutes of your life. Have a stupid time.

Well Magic was the only consistent judge. Shaq, T-Mac, Dikembe and the Ice-Man screwed up down the stretch.

I'm still replaying those mascot dunks and Lavine's follow up dunks and I am still struggling to understand how Lavine got a 10. Lol. Even chuck, Kenny and others on TNT were suggesting it was all over after that revolving mascot dunk routine by Gordon.

Well one thing is for sure that this will probably go down as one of the best dunk contests of all time. The bar has been raised.

Ah, that makes sense..... Randle ought to claim he's African or Caribbean and dish out a little patois to overcome that unfair measure.

Oh, I think Levine's dunks were 10's, but Gordon's dunks were better 10's. That's why they should do dunks by category. Creativity, difficulty and extra point for making it the 1st time. And than add them up.

That's the problem when you clowns like dikembe and Shaq and that old school "ice man of the 50's gerwin" judging dunk contests. Magic was just smiling like a diplomat and awarding 10's like Walmart gift cards.

IMHO they should have real Dunkers or ex dunk champs as judges. I'm sure the results would have been very different if you had folks like Dominique/Nate/Vince Carter as judges.

I just came to ask the same question. Not sure but I suspect it is. The scoreboard only goes to 199 and that warning was never issued before.

. Yeah, I was amazed at those two dunks by Gordon. I was less amazed by Levine's dunks in comparison. I'm not saying his weren't great but what I saw Gordon do amazed me. I hate to see a guy get robbed like that.
