TODAYS THE BIG DAY!, a season of frustration and misery all comes to an end tonight. Today will determine the future of this storied franchise, will we keep the pick? will we lose it? will we move into the top 3? will we win the lottery? who will we go after this offseason? what does the future hold? We've gotten more questions than answers since our last title run in 2010. Our team has been surrounded by uncertainty and failure since. From the vetoed CP3 trade to the failed Nash-Howard project, our trust in the Lakers front office has never been as doubtful as it is now. After two consecutive seasons of not making the playoffs, fans have craved and pleaded for a plan, we've heard of the glorified cap space the Lakers have been preserving for years, we know the money the Lakers hold for the summers of 2015 and 2016, we know that Kobe's days are coming to an end, we know that Byron Scott is the coach for the foreseeable future, this is what we know. What we don't know is HOW the Lakers plan on using their cap space, who they will they pursue?, will they go after young FAs or veterans?, are we done with the 1 year deals? when will we begin to build our team?...these are some of the many questions that we have asked ourselves over the last couple of years. After the Nash-Howard failure, we held little hope for the future, all our assets had been traded away and our only option seemed to be FA and our 2014 draft pick. After drafting Julius Randle and purchasing the draft rights to Jordan Clarkson, fans once again found hope in this franchise. We finally had our glimpse at the future. After another injury filled....

No doubt, after suffering these last couple seasons I pray for a high pick one that can land us one of the two bigs...and health for our other players next year.

WIth a good draft and a decent summer finding and signing the right couple of guys...this team could be fun to watch again and competitive for the playoffs next year.

I didn't realize how much I love the NBA playoffs and the Lakers being in them.....really until this year...when I have really gotten back into watching them even without my team being part of it.

The NBA playoffs are great sports....they are just better when the Lakers are playing!

Please, please please land pick 1 or 2.

That number 4 spot really scares me. But I think the basketball Gods are going to be with us tonight. Hope we move up, praying we don't drop down.

I wish FO instructed Byron Scott to evaluate our younger players earlier, so we potentially could of lost a couple more games. Now we run the risk of possibly losing the pick. We just needed to be 1 spot higher. But I guess it does not matter at this point. We need to stay in the Top 5.

HUGE day for us. Can possibly expedite the rebuild a little bit faster. If we can somehow magically jump into a higher pick, even better. But what I am looking at, is keeping the pick.

I am so scared. If Mark Tatum gets up there and says "the sixth pick will go to the Philadelphia 76ers" I am going to lose it.

just hoping we keep the pick. holding my breath, but also know that this will just be a rookie and any given rookie can go bust... but not having one is a guaranteed bust.

so with my all-seeing clairvoyant-eye, I predict we get #3

Unless they get the sixth pick cause we and two other teams jump them. That would be some karmic justice if they get pushed back 3 spots. It'd be fitting, cause I don't think they should be rewarded for being a revolving door of players and draft picks.

I just ask for this one thing, please, this ONE thing! Let us keep our pick! I'm happy with 5th pick, still able to get a good talent!

Lord knows we need a top 4 pick, really a top 3 so we can have our choice of Okafor, Towns, and Russell. But i'm going to have to pray a little harder that we get a top 2 spot, and they choose one of the bigs....I just don't think I could deal with another year of Sacre Bleu, Jordan Achilles Hill, Carlos Boohoozer, etc smh....Now if we don't get them and get Russell i'll still be happy, but that just means I gotta pray harder that Marc Gasol forgives us and takes us back for 100 Million Max + under the table deals....

Mitch Kupchak: It May Be 'A Little Much' To Add Three Rookies In Draft

It looks like Mitch may decided to package our first rounders to move up further into the top-5 (assuming we land our pick in the first place). Either that or he might use #27 and#34 to move up into the high teens or early 20s. I wouldn't mind either actually. If we can secure a high enough pick where we can get Towns or RHJ, Upshaw, or Anderson, then I'm all for it.

^ I wonder if they got to choose which hats to hold because Towns has made it publicly known that he would like to be drafted by the Knicks and Russell would like to be drafted by the sixers. Makes the draft process pretty awkward.

That might be true. However, I think they just responded to the questions that they were asked. Towns was probably asked by a NY media member and Russell was asked by a reporter from Philly.

On another note, I saw this picture that I thought was appropriate. It's for everyone no matter who you think the Lakers should draft.

Yet another sign that Towns will be our guy. Check out the jersey #. Of course, that could also mean it's Winslow, but I tend to think of the best case scenario. Then again there's 2 of them, so could that mean we're getting both?

No actually Towns said knicks were his favorite team. And Russell when asked at combine by espn reporter what team would really like to go to, he said sixers.

Remember a time when everyone would have said lakers. Hopefully we'll get back to that!!

In all honesty I'd would rather Clarkson in the backcourt than russle I really like how Clarkson develop this season and his hunger and drive to be better and compete his going to be a future all star....

If we get Russell, ain't no PG bih *In my Plies voice* ...lol...Just two unselfish guards who can both dribble, pass, and who just want to win, and that's so much better than having Kobe....at this point at least.....

If our squad gets the pick and the draft Russell, would he and Clarkson be a better backcourt than Olidipo and Peyton? I'd like to see those 4 go at it in 3 years.

Well, the question that will be answered tonight is IF we will have a pick at the top of the draft. We still won't know who we pick, if we'll trade up or down, trade the pick for a player or who we'll go after in free agency, let alone if they'll sign with us. 1 question will be answered tonight. Then some more on draft night.

Hope for the best. Expect the worst.

Lakers also have #27 and #34 picks, so it's worth mentioning Kupchak very recently said having 3 more rooks on the team, in addition to Randle & Clarkson "might be a bit much". That tells me - expect a trade. I think either trade up #27 and #34 for a higher pick, or one of these two picks will be traded for a NBA vet.

If we land the top 5 pick, he might want to also consider trading for a first round pick next year, seeing as we won't have anything out of the top 3.

If Lakers get #5, which is most likely scenario - I'd pick Kristaps Porzingis over Justise Winslow. I think top 4 are sealed between Towns, Okafor, Russell & Mudiay

If the Lakers keep their top 5 pick, I think they will draft Winslow and trade the #27 and #34 pick in order to move up and get Cauley-Stein. WCS and Randle both played for Kentucky and would work well together as Randle could be more offense and WCS is more so a rim protector that needs to add an offensive game. For the time being that would be fine as the offense could run through Clarkson, Kobe, Randle and Winslow. We need a SF bad and Winslow under the tutelage of Kobe could become a beast on both ends.

Lakers select Justise Winslow with the 4th pick.

Lakers trade #27 and #34 for the rights to WCS.

Indeed,

Let us hope for the Basketball Gods favor. With this FO we need it more than most.

Let us also hope Byron brings us more luck than Worthy, who in last years lottery certainly didn't deliver us a much needed big game as he did so many times as a player.

I want nothing less than number one. Yep, I'm greedy. If we fall out of the top five and lose the pick, I say the fans in LA should rush Mitch's office, tar and feather him and run him out of town on a rail.

I will also propitiate the Bball gods with a sacrifice for the outcome we need.

Accept the Sacrifice Great Basketball Gods and deliver us a warrior to free us from what plagues our once mighty empire!!!!!!

I hope Miami keeps their pick at #10. I don't want Philly to get it. Also, it would spell trouble for the Lakers unless they move up also.

not only unrealistic, but completely impossible scenario. WCS is projected top 10 pick, speculated as high as #5 by some. Lakers don't have enough assets to trade up to get him, if they use their own pick on Winslow. #27 and #34 picks certainly aren't enough. The best Lakers can hope to get for those 2 picks is #20.

I don't know why, but for some reason I can see Okafor in a Laker jersey more than any of the other top-5.

You will be lucky to get the 23rd pick for 27 and 34. With that proposal, no way you get into the top 10, which is where WCS is projected to be. The other GM would laugh over the phone and hang up.

This lady Heather Cox is dumb man. Asking them "How can you help your team tonight?" It's a lottery lady, it's all luck. There's no talent involved.
