Surprised there is no all star weekend thread already. If there is, please merge. But what do you all think so far of this all star weekend? Thought Korver would take the 3 Pt challenge to be honest. But wasn't surprised curry went off and dominated at same time.. The game seems to be another 3 pt shoot out, at least on the west side. Which is expected with Steve Kerr as coach. Either way, the West is taking it this year. Love to hear what everyone else thinks.

All star weekend has lost its appeal to me. Dunk contest, nothing new everything has been done. 3 pt contest? Same, they need to start going head to head like the skills challenge. Skills challenge, what a joke, did you watch that thing? These are supposed to be the premier players and can barely hit a chest pass from 10/15 feet. Don't even get me started on the "fashion" contest.

Gee Tempy... You have augmented my already less-than ecstatic feelings of this weekend's festivities.

My thoughts:

Dunk contest turns me off when the first attempt is missed. Some of Lavine's dunks were impressive given how high he can get. But it does bother me knowing there are better dunks out there that don't show up in the pro ranks.

I wished It was more of a contest between Steph and Klay in the three-point contest.

In the skills challenge, opposing players should have dueled opposite of each other instead of sharing one basket.

I agree that overall the contests have lost some appeal, but if you can't appreciate the performances of Steph Curry and Zack LaVine then you're either jaded or extremely spoiled.

I am not spoiled its just the all star format is so jaded at this point.

Dr J couldn't even decide for himself what score to give and just looked at everyone else's. This was after the advertising gimmick of samsung tablets to show a number. Really?

As was mentioned more time is spent attempting the dunks than the actual 5 seconds of great footage. Scores should be evened out, each attempt is graded and the average is given as the score. 1 guy perfects his dunk first time gets a lower score than someone who takes 3 attempts, great way to award failure. If you can not perfect your dunk how can you be the best dunker in the competition?

Steph Curry had 1 good run it was great to watch for all 1 minute of it. How long was the programming on for and we got 1 great minute? It's boring, it needs to change.

There are so many things that could be done, 3 v 3 streeball where each division has 2 teams of 3, draw numbers out of a hat to decide teams. Anything is better than watching a player walk down the run way in some designer suit.

They should make the game higher staked so that the result is not so meaningless. Baseball has already made theirs the difference maker to who gets the home field advantage, and the NBA should follow suit.

Is it true that Jeremy Lin won the Taco Bell skills challenge over the weekend?

Yes. He can make a taco and roll a burrito like no other. Wait no he didn't he managed to suck at that too. In all seriousness Patrick Beverly won it.

I wonder if Lin started this rumor because I heard the same thing! I think during the second part of the season that Linsanity will return!

In all honestly, i watched all three hours of skills competition in about 23 minutes after staying up all night watching a mare in labor. Maybe at that point anything would be exciting.

I was kidding about Lin. No way that train wreck would win a skills competition.

.

Lavine put on a nice show and he made it look easy. Steph dropping 13 in a row was definitely impressive.

Things that bothered me:

Elfridge Payton's hair. Every time I see that nonsense I wish some one would kidnap him and shave it with clippers at the lowest setting.

Seeing these young 19 year old kids with full on tattoos as if they got started getting tattoos at 12

That we didn't have a Laker there to represent the team

Man I'm with you especially with the tattoos. I've been trying to figure that out for some years now. It bothers me to see these kids at a young age with all these tattoos and most of them is getting them just to be getting them. Tattoos aren't cheap so are the parents paying for them. If so I'm just really disappointed. I mean most of them got stuff on them and they don't even know what it means. I have two younger boys 12 and 10 and that won't be happening.

You did miss out on Sacre, Luke Walton and Lisa Leslie winning the shooting stars challenge though
