I wonder who will be to blame next season for the Lakers getting around 33 wins? This past season it was D'Antoni/Danphoni/Antoni/Pringles who was skewered by Lakers fans when in all honesty the Lakers didn't have a good roster. Let's be truly honest with ourselves here. Woulda healthy Kobe have been enough to take the Lakers from 27 wins up to over 49 wins to get into the playoffs last season? That's a lot to be out on the shoulders of a 35 year old who will be 36 years old next month.

The Lakers haven't had a good point guard since probably Nick Van Exel and that's going back around 94 until 2000 which is over 14 years ago. Fans have been so starved of a good point guard in LA that they actually were fine with the Lakers getting screwed over by Phoenix in a trade for Nash. We've been so deficient at that spot that fans are actually happy about the acquisition of Jeremy Lin who in all actuality should be a backup, not a starter. It will be good to see one guy who can get into the lane though.

People are excited about Boozer. Why? Boozer is another role guy who will set good screens, knock down a few jumpshots and have his occasional hot games where he can't miss but aside from that and some boards he won't provide much else. He should be a bench guy as well in my opinion but I'm sure LA will most likely make him a starter.

They will blame the FO (which they already do). They automatically think just because its LA any person should want to be here. When ever a FA is available we are automatically in contention. They forget about state taxes and the like. Its time they woke up, the new CBA killed the big teams. Thankfully it will come full circle. When the "big teams" suck and no longer generate the cash for the smaller teams that have never made a profit the rules will be changed again.

Cool your jets, man. The Lakers will be a little better next year, but the clock is ticking on Kobe's and Nash's contracts, and our front office hasn't committed itself to much going forward. When Kobe's and Nash's contracts come off the books, we will have almost unlimited cap space, and a core of guys who have been here a year or two. Scott will be well established as the guy in charge, the Lakers will be playing Defense again, and its not impossible for us to then bring in a big 3 of some kind from anywhere = we could be very competitive from that point forward.

We're in the early stages of a re-build. you've gotta be patient. But I agree, Its been very frustrating waiting for our front office to fix all of the problems that they created with bad decisions in the past. I want it now too, but I'm beginning to see how the pieces can go together to make it fun to watch these guys create something great out of nothing.

But they are not fixing the problems the right way. All they are doing is putting band aids on our problems. As soon as Kobe went down again they should have been actively looking to do what the 76ers did and just go into full tank mode. Trade Gasol, Hill and get some picks back and get a better draft pick. Luckily Randle may work out but we ended up losing Gasol for nothing and then signing Hill to $9mill. (that makes him the 65th highest player in the league by the way. Who else earns that amount? Lance Stephenson, Deng, Millsap, Derozan just to name a few).

I don't see the point in being a little better this year. Either make the play offs or just suck so we can keep our pick. Kobe knew full well that if he signed the contract we could get 1 star. If he really wanted that ring so bad he could have took less.I love Kobe as much as anyone but he can't complain to the FO that he didn't get any help when he tied one of their hands behind his back.

IF the lakers can get something for Nash, we somehow keep our pick (top 5), we can keep Lin and maybe Boozer with decent deals in the summer, Randle can fulfill his potential and we sign 1 or 2 all star level players in the 2015 we would be well on the way to a solid rebuild.

If that were to happen we would have a roster of;

Kobe

Randle

Lin

Boozer

Young

Draft Pick (top 5)

FA

FA

Fill that roster out with some Vets and we would be back in the playoffs.

Wouldn't it be nice for Nash to play this season at the level we all thought he had when we signed him? Is it possible that his back would settle down for this season, so we could see some pick n rolls like they are supposed to be run?

We sucked so bad last year and we still couldn't crack top 5, it would be almost to impossible to be in top 5 pick, with better players this year,

Better players?

We lost Blake/Kent Bazemore/Jordan Farmar/Pau Gasol/Jodie Meeks/Chris Kaman/Kendall Marshall

We gained Julius Randle/Jordan Clarkson/Lin/Boozer/Davis

You could say we gained Kobe but until he shows he is back to his best I will refrain from doing so.

Lets look at the pathetic lack of Defense and rebounding front court we had last season. Gasol/Kaman/Hill/Sacre.

Lets compare this seasons. Sacre/Hill/Boozer/Randle/Davis. Better players? Better?! Are you kidding me?

Back court we lost Blake/Bazemore/Meeks/Marshall. We added Clarkson and Lin. Granted Lin is a better player than the others individually. Collectively we are worse!

Unless Kobe comes back at an MVP level and Scott has some magic formula to cure our rebounding issues we will NOT be making any playoffs next season.

^^ Coach Scott will actually play 2 legitment big men instead of Gasol alongside Wes Johnson and Ryan Kelly. He's going to actually play the 3rd best rebounder in the league per 36, every night.

It's as simple as that. D'antoni wouldn't give Hill nor Kaman a real role on the team despite their great play in their limited opportunities. No, he'd rather us spread the floor even though it costed us to lose the rebounding battle what, 30 something straight games?? That idiot didn't understand the concept of winning the old fashion way, with defense and rebounding.

Now we have another great rebounder and defender in Davis, a versatile beast in Julius Randle, and an always great rebounder in Boozer. Yeah his defense is apparently very lackluster, but Scott won't stand for that.. Which is why I say he will be a bench player, leaving Randle to start... Or at the very least finish the games (which is far more important anyway)

Getting rid of D'antoni fixed our defense and rebounding all on it's own. Our offense probably won't be as high scoring, but hopefully more efficient and consistent.

I'm not all down in the dumps like half of the ppl on here. I liked the moves we made because we can be competitive and we kept our financial flexibility. I see us being in the hunt for those last 2-3 playoff spots.. With around 44-48 wins.

Although I hope you're wrong, have to agree with everything you just said. This team will be lucky to make playoffs and it's laughable how some try to make FA's we signed seem like we just sign all stars. And that Randle is going to be this game changer from the start. We're in for a season of disappointment. On another note, Lakers have hosted Xmas game every year, see they have to go to Chicago this Xmas. " Wow how the mighty have fallen".

Playing 2 big men is fine but our big men are simply not that good. Lets say we have a rotation of Davis/Hill at C and Boozer/Randle at PF we are going to get killed inside. How can we have fixed the defense when our best defender is probably Kobe?! Yes we can set up and block out opponents but that is going to kill our fast break offense (kobe already does that enough). So other than Kobe who is going to score 20 a night? Boozer certainly isn't nor is Lin. This 3rd best player your talking about I am presuming is Hill. He is simply an energy player and is good for 25mins a night. I am one of his biggest advocates but we simply can't expect him to become a 36min player. On a sidenote that 9mill deal was simply terrible! Defensively he is poor. I also think your over emphasizing how useful Randle is going to be. Tim Duncan averaged 21 points, 12 rebounds and 2.5 blocks per game while playing just a shade under 40 minutes per night during his rookie season. We will be lucky to get half of that production. To have a successful defense you have to have at least 2 high quality defenders on your starting 5 if not more. The lakers have none. As stated above our front court is not only under sized they are very poor individual defenders. We are going to get killed in the pick n roll all season long. Last season we won 27 games, you are projecting the lakers win an extra 17 games when every other team in the west, other than the T-Wolves (once they trade Love) got better. I just don't see it. Through the first 26 games we managed to win 13. If we had....

Unfortunately, there won't be that many good players available in next year's free agency. If we bomb on Durant and Westbrook, we're done. It will be just like this year. We've seen what it's like when you're standing around, waiting for the big named guys, and you fail to get them. Yup, next season is probably going to have problems too, and for the same reasons.
