The good thing would be is he has an expiring contract after next season. And is a "decent" PG. Along with a draft pick or 2, and maybe even Monitjunias as the steal of the trade.

Lakers would make sense as destination with cap space to take on Jeremy Lin's expiring contract & without cutting into any of 2015 cap space

Why would we increase Howard's chances of winning a ring? If this is true we better get something good in return

I am assuming nothing, because the Rockets want cap space. We should be getting other assets too, for taking Lins contract and helping the Rockets achieve a core of: Harden, Howard, Bosh, and Parsons.

Rockets need to find a 3rd team that would take Nash off our hands and I'm all for this deal.

Haven't made the trade yet. But yeah, you are right. Id be willing to take that pick. They should throw Terrence Jones too Smile, since we are helping them get Bosh and resign Parsons. haha.

If it's Lin straight up, No thanks. But if we get picks or young assets, then maybe it won't be bad for our future.

We're on the outside looking in. Might as well acquire assets in the form of first round picks, the only true currency in today's post CBA NBA.

It's known he's no longer considering the Lakers...

This is not a bad idea. If we can help facilitate by taking on Lin's contract we should. New Orleans still needs to clear Ajinca to finalize the Asik trade. If we can gain Jones, Montiejunas or Casspi, Ajinca, a first round pick in addition to Lin we would be doing some serious cabinet stocking for under 12 million in cap space. We could still re-sign Pau and possibly Young and have over $18 million in expiring contracts next year. For me it's a no brainer.

I would have to see the deal to know if it is a good one.

Just wondering if we are going to do a salary dump for a team, what would be better??

1) Lin , picks and maybe Terrance Jones.

or

2) Amare, Shmpert and picks?

I might rather have the second myself.

There are reports that the deal with the pelicans for asik fell through so I'd try and get asik instead. There are no centers on the FA market and we don't have any center prospects to develop either.( We already have clarkson, kane and we can offer thomas or bledsoe contracts so a pg isn't the problem)Plus asik style of play and strengths mesh well with randle.

I say do it. Not sure what everyone is expecting to get. Melo is going to NYK or CHI. LBJ is gone.

Lin will count only 8 mil in cap space (but in reality we pay him 15 mil). If we can get young assets + picks, why not do it? We still have cap space to sign other young players, as well.

Realistically we are not winning a championship next season. Might as well build up our assets and go young.

If that is true, I would rather have Asik.

We better be getting a pick or something in return, as well, since the Rockets are in pretty dire need of making both of these trades. We would have the leverage.

Honestly if I were the lakers I would take on both asik and Lin both players combined is only 17 mil, stretch Nash's contract or find someone willing to trade for him...then we will have enough room to offer Stephenson a deal...so not only would we get some type of picks or other young assests in a trade for asik and Lin but then we could still get Stephenson as well...or otherwise we could facilitate a trade with the pelicans as well...they need to she's some salary in order to get asik in a trade so we could possibly take on some of that...there r lots of options available...

Hopefully Nash is in the deal. I doubt though since They need money and space to sign a Real life Raptor.

Lin and Asik make 15mil each next year, nowhere near 17mil combined.

They only count for 8 mil against the cap, each. But they will make 15 million each.

That's correct, my bad the salary cap hit is based off the avg over the entire deal.

This make me feel much better, I thought he would be taking 15 mil of our cap. If we can move Nash its like to got Lin for Nash which is great deal.

Forget Lin, get asik. What is the front office thinking, kobe is gone to be pissed. Helping Dwight, get rid of a player they don't need.

Who cares about Dwight?

We need to think about the Lakers. And that is what the FO is doing.

Getting young assets and picks must happen in this deal, for it to be good for the Lakers, though.

That's a great idea. Both players only count about 8 million each against the cap and if stretch nash that would add another 6 million to the money we can spend. Plus lin and asik are both very underrated players.

Lin is a solid starter on a one year deal that doesn't compromise the lakers cap after next season AND we get a pick and other draft considerations.(probably player rights)

Lin is better than any pg we have on the roster currently and won't need a long term deal like bledsoe or Thomas. Both of who have downsides, Bledsoe is injury prone and Thomas is 5'9.

Some people can't be pleased no matter what I guess. Smh
