Lyonal Hollins, Steve Kerr, Jeff Van Gundy, Stan Van Gundy, or.....

Here is the link and enjoy the discussion. I think it should be a good one.

I would personally like any of the Van Gundy's. Simply because they can work with there star players. No matter the drama and there not afraid to confront the star player. Which is what the Lakers have lacked since Jackson. Which I think why Kobe respected him.

Lakers are gonna need a coach that can wait it out through two more seasons of having one player taking up at least 1/3 of the teams cap.

A coach Like Thibs, Jackson, Rivers or Pop!

A great one, none of my picks are realistic but is there a coach like these guys out there?

I really cannot think of one.

Do I sense some animosity?

Kinda like the Steve Kerr idea. Would kinda like someone with some coaching experience what so ever though lol.

  1. Byron Scott

  2. Lionel Hollins

  3. Steve Kerr

Assistants:

  1. Derek Fisher

  2. Kareem Abdul Jabbar

  3. Kurt Rambis

  4. Michael Cooper

  5. Steve Kerr (could start as an assistant)

  6. Jim Cleamons

Definitely not Stan Van Gundy.......My personal choice would be Byron Scott but if they want some new blood, I'd like to give Fred Hoiberg a shot. I like Thibs too but don't think we have a shot at him.

We need a coach with a defensive focus, and the ability to rationally substitute players; to build a team spirit; to develop young talent; to make the most of the skills that players bring to the team; to get in the face of those who don't listen and to follow directions; and to lead by example. The guy I think has these capabilities is Jeff Van Gundy.

Geno from Uconn. I don't care what nobody say, women or not. He is a good coach!

Jeff Van Gundy would be perfect, he will use the post more and get rid of that run and gun crap. Plus he knows how to use the talent we will have the right way for any giving situation.

The Lakers still seem to think it's Mike D'Antoni...

According to one report, Byron Scott and Kurt Rambis are the leading candidates for the Lakers coaching vacancy if they fire D'Antoni. If this were to happen, I don't know if I'd feel all that great about it tbh. I mean they're better options than D'Antoni, but I'm just not that impressed with either of their coaching record. I mean the records for each of them are below

Scott: 416-521; has reached the playoffs 4 out of the 11 full years he has coached (2 shortened seasons in which he was fired).

Rambis: 56-145; he made the playoffs 1 out of his 3 years coaching.

I just feel like the Lakers should go a different direction. Someone like Ollie, Donovan, Bo Ryan, Hoiberg, etc. would be better hires IMO. Could I be wrong. Sure! But I just feel like a coach that has yet to prove himself in the NBA, but is plenty eager to do so, would be a better choice.

As I said above though, if either Scott or Rambis do become the next Lakers coach, I won't be completely against it. I just hope they're not doing it because they're more familiar with them (since they're a part of the Lakers family).

Lyonl Hollins or Byron Scott are outstanding candidates. Players LOVE playing for these coaches. They seem to be able to keep their cool and can also rally underdogs (10-13 memphis) to do incredible things. They stress D and can make Lakers a destination.

word on the wire is that "if" dantoni is fired, scott and rambis will be the leading candidates. i don't know bout you guys, but i don't want rambis as head coach. scott, sure. but not rambis.

I won't be mad if it's Rambis. But I'd much rather have him as an assistant.

Scott and Rambis are triangle guys, and Jimmy isn't into to the triangle. No chance they will be head coach if Jimmy is making the decision.

Who said Scott was a triangle guy?
