There's a long list of things that Phil Jackson must do in order to return the New York Knicks to a respectable level of basketball relevance. Bringing in elite talent - quickly, or even immediately - has to be at the top of the list. The culture must change, of course, and adding a head coach that can instill a long-term vision of what that will look like will certainly be an important component. But winning championships doesn't happen without one or more of the game's best players in place, and that's believed to be the area Jackson can impact the most. From Frank....

Can the Knicks even afford Amare, Melo and LeBron? lmao. Also no where in this article are there any facts or quotes from LeBrons team or LeBron himself. The entire article is basically an opinion lol.

If Lebron goes to the Knicks because of this, Jim Buss needs to be run out of town, literally...

Add Kevin Love to NY too, if Both Lakers and Knicks have cap room, Star player would rather join Phils team than Buss

He's a free agent this summer. I don't see how the Knicks can get him. They don't have cap room until years from now. Personally, I don't think LeBron would come here regardless if Phil was here or not. He doesn't want to be in Kobe's shadow.

^^^ lebron can opt in and that would make him a free agent next summer.

From what I've read of Love , he wants to go back home which is LA and he also wants to follow in his father's footsteps and play for LA. I personally don't see him going to NY but I can see Lebron going but NY has a mess to clean up first. LA is in way better position than NY in regards to the cap.

He can opt in to his contract and that would make him a free agent in the summer of 2015,which means the Knicks would have all that cap space to sign him.

Amare,Tyson, and bargnani will all be off the books...

yeah i doubt he opts in for one year though. he's is either going to re-up long term or leave this year. especially if they don't win the chip this year. If he opts in for the final year, it will be known he's not doing it just for another run with the big 3, the whole franchise and all of its fans along with it will know he is leaving after the season and lebron, to me, can't handle that pressure. so i bet he leaves or reups this off season. the best bet is he would resign 5 year max and wade would sign a 2 year deal

Yessss. Let NY have Bron/Love/Melo, so there's no room for Durant. Yesssss.

So Lebron said he is now considering going to the Knicks?

Where did he say that?

Oh no, some "confidant" of his said it?

Who was that?

Oh, we don't know. Like so many "confidants" who say things that never happen.

This is the first of many bullsh*t articles we will read about where Lebron is considering going, where he may go, where he will go, all stated by people other than Lebron.

Let the Phil/Lebron, Lebron, Lebron, Lebron, Lebron, circus begin.

Then lets see where he ends up. I'm betting Miami. I should know, because I am one of his many confidants. You will certainly hear from all of the others before this is over.

^ lol i love it! hahaha. but to be honest, ny probably is one of the few teams he will look at. lebron doesn't just have teams under the cap to choose from. all nba teams have draft picks, picks that miami would like to have if lebron were to leave. so, that said, he really can pick whatever team he wants to go to. with the way the knicks have been playing, amare in particular, would be a nice one year expiring which the knicks can flip with a few picks and then they would resign anthony and have a monster big 2 with a bunch of shooters and defense at the point and center. so really the choice is his. nobody has any idea except for maybe his wife wade and bosh. but more than likely, just his wife. he is a smart dude, he is not goiing to put some info like that in the hands of ANYONE but those who are THAT close to him. he doesn't need the drama during the season.

Let's face it, since the Knicks got rid of the Phony and brought in PJ, they are much more attractive to everyone looking for a new home. Something tells me that New York will be competitive with Miami soon. Be honest, if you were Lebron, wouldn't you consider going there? Why not? And as we saw in Miami - where he goes, other talent will follow and make financial sacrifices to play with him. Same goes for PJ. The Knicks are on the right track, while the Lakers fell off of the track. Letting PJ go was a bonehead move - another wonderful decision brought to you by the Lakers Ownership Committee. What a bunch of goofs!

Steve,

With all due respect, we don't know if the Knicks are on the right track. All we know so far is they hired a 69 year old Jackson. People keep making that same assumption that this is the Knicks fix. What if Phil proves to be a bad President? What if he can't get the job done either because he is too old or just not made for that position? Then it will turn out to be more wasted years at a very large expense. Let's see how this plays out before we talk about them being on the right track.

Or to put it another way, what if the old man doesn't turn things around? What if they never win a title under Phil? What if there is some 37 year old guy out there right now who could lead the Knicks to the title if he had gotten the spot Phil did? See my point? We won't know if the Knicks are on the right track until the results come in. You only are on the right track when you hire the right guy who gets the results you want and expect. Is Phil that guy? We don't know yet.

i can't say they're on the right "track" but its a step forward in the right direction. somethings take time, and fact of the matter is, NY needed a front office change. they needed something there that looks somewhat appealing. and phil was it. not sure how it will turn out in the end, but before he was hired melo was a sure fire goner. now there is still a chance he resigns.

24allday,

They did need a fix. Just not jumping on the Phil is the fix bandwagon. I want to see how he does, what he does, before I go there.

Me too. I'm not saying he's the Long term fix, nut right now as we speak they were on the verge of not only losing their franchise player, but the home town kid. If you can't even keep the player that grew up rooting for you and wanted to play for one day, that's not a good look to other free agents. It's a stepping stone none the less. They can't be in a worse position if Phil fails. Right now they don't have draft picks, they have no flexibility what so ever. Phil's name alone may be able to sway some talent there. Maybe not. Who knows.

I swear, ever since Lebrons "Decision" , the NBA has just turned into one big soap opera but with big athletes instead of small actors

I would approach Lebron, Carmelo, and lowry and talk about these combinations to them if we can drop nash and in some cases might lose our pick this year.

kobe, lebron, carmelo biggest stretch financially

Lowry, Kobe, Lebron realistic where all players get fair compensation

lowry, kobe, Carmelo realistic where all players get fair compensation

Don't think either lebron or carmelo come here unless we can get another star with them since there is uncertainty with kobe.

Lebron James, such a great player in the court, such a "small" player out of the court. running behind other superstars for the 2nd time in his career to accomplish his achievemtns. He is destined to never get compared to the greatest Hall of Famers. Personally, I wouldn't want him in the Lakers either
