http://blogs.charlotte.com/inside_the_nba/2014/02/a-charlotte-bobcats- trade-for-los-angeles-lakers-big-man-pau-gasol-unlikely.html The Charlotte Bobcats have been in contact with the Los Angeles Lakers concerning veteran big man Pau Gasol, but a source familiar with the discussion downplayed the likelihood Gasol would end up a Bobcat by Thursday's NBA trade deadline. Gasol makes over $19 million in this, the final season of his current contract. Superstar Kobe Bryant is hurt and the Lakers have fallen out of the Western Conference playoff race, so getting something for Gasol like a first-round pick is something the Lakers have explored. While adding Gasol could give the Bobcats the short-term boost to make the playoffs, giving....

everyone knows MJ hasn't always made the best decisions basketball wise so maybe there is a chance still Bobkittens give up a pick!! On the real, I think we end up keeping Pau and losing him for nothing in the summer.....

I'm thinking they want in on a possible 3 team trade if it comes up.

I would prefer the real reason being because we're trading him.

Hopefully we can trade Gasol, Hill, AND Kaman. We could then sign a couple D-Leaguers to take their spots. New lineup for the rest of the season:

PG - Marshall, Farmar

SG - Blake, Meeks, Henry

SF - Johnson, Young

PF - Williams, Kelly, D-Leaguer

C - Sacre, D-Leaguer

This would definitely get the tank rolling and give us a chance at possibly challenging the Bucks for most ping pong balls in the lottery. lol

Mitch Kupchak & Jim Buss are currently meeting in Beverly Hills to discuss Pau Gasol's future with the Lakers, according to @aryeabraham1

Nobody is willing to give us anything for Pau. Why should they? When the season ends, they can just sign him. We sure won't want him then.

That's a perfect example why timing is critical for trades, and good GMs sense when the player's value is the highest and when it's time to let him go. A year and a half ago, when Rockets were competing with Lakers for Dwight's services Houston were trading for high picks and had like 4 first rounders, in hope to assemble package for Dwight Orlando would accept. At the same time, they were very interested in Pau and he was their plan B, if Dwight deal doesn't go through. Mavs and others were after Pau as well. Lakers easily could have gotten 2 first rounders and a solid player in exchange for Pau from Houston, while saving about $40 mil in salary in the process....

Houston had also offered Dragic/Scola/K. Martin for Pau.....which Kupchak thrashed...Mind Boggling. Dragic is easily the top 5 pg's right now and is playing on another stratosphere altogether. He should have made the all star. I would say he is playing better than cp3/bledsoe right now.

A year and a half ago, they should have traded Howard to Brooklyn, probably could have gotten all the picks celtics got, plus Lopez and than flipped him to another team for more picks.

C. Broussard was on espn saying we should trade our pick for Love till Michael Smith corrected him that we can't. It was funny.

What it's a good example of is just how bad our FO has been. I've been critical of them for years, while others think Mitch is great. I disagree.

I don't think Pau is going anywhere. If they move Blake, Hill, Kaman there under cap and will keep Pau (maybe). I think base off Pau's relationship with Kobe and if Lakers give him a realistic contract he will stay, and I'm ok with that. He is a 20 & 10 guy this year when healthy. Also if I'm Pau I ask for No trade clause , before I take less money so I don't have to deal with this trading **** every year.

If they keep Pau "NO D" Gasol, and overpay him if they do, which they will, I'm done with this team. Can't stand this useless FO...

Marc stein tweeted that we can sign and trade Pau in July? I bet they'll package him and our draft pick for a star.
