Not a fan of the video but I love Swaggy P. I hope he stays a laker for a while.

Swaggy has been the major find of this season. IMO he has earned a spot on the team, long term. He's got spunk, and he's got a shot. For a smaller guy, he can defend against players a lot bigger than he is - because he can jump really high.

Give him another year or 2 playing a lot of floor time, and he will really be something to watch. His young legs are fun to watch. Too bad he can't do it alone.

What's the difference between Nick young being funny and dwight doing the same thing last year?

I'm really curious because we all criticized dwight for not being serious while we love Nick young for his antics. is it that Dwight was "considered" a star and we expect more of him? or is there a difference in their style of humor? Or would we also criticize young if we were a winning team? Id really love to hear your input.

Lakerdymes,

I can answer that question for you. Dwight was viewed as the Savior by so many fans here. He was supposed to team with Kobe and lead us to a promised land of ring after ring, where Kobe became the greatest player in NBA history. That was the expectation and view of many, many fans here.

When all that fell flat on its face, for many, many reasons, when reality intruded, lots of those same fans who for years wanted nothing more than Dwight to come here turned on him. Then everything he did was crap. Including the fact that he liked to have fun. This is interesting because the Howard we got was the same guy all those Lakers fans wanted. He always was a guy who liked to have fun. He did it in Orlando, so why the surprise when he did it here? But suddenly that same Howard the fans wanted was castigated for being Howard because things were not going as planned.

Or to put it in one simple word: Bitterness.

There are no expectations with this team. We know they are not going anywhere. Young was not expected to help us win a title this year, nor to help Kobe become the greatest player in NBA history. So when he does something like Howard, no big deal. It's all in fun.

That was a good question you asked. And it shows you how expectations and circumstance can influence and change fans reactions to very similar events.

I was one fan that understood that Dwight didn't want to be here from the start and so I had no gripe with him knowing this. I believed the FO convinced themselves that they could convince him to sign because of the LA history but again, Dwight didn't want to be here and he made it no secret. To be honest, there's absolutely no reason to be mad at him but there are fans out there that knew he didn't want to be here and because of that, they were irritated by his playful antics. That's my 2 cents.

Pete, I agree. There is no reason to be mad at him. He was Dwight, with the good and flaws (in his game) that makes him Dwight. Anyone who really watched him at Orlando knew these flaws. Those who just saw his ESPN highlights made him out to be something a bit more than he was. He was also the same personality he was in Orlando. That wasn't going to change. Also not mad at him leaving, and that had nothing to do with me never wanting him here to begin with. Even if I were the biggest Dwight fan in the....

The difference between the two is Nick Young doesn't publicly point fingers at his teammates other than that Phoenix game which was understandable. He's a team player and he enjoys being a Laker and takes pride in it. I respect Nick Young much more than I do Dwight Howard.
