A bit optimistic there Vlade. I think this team could make the playoffs, and the chemistry will be better, but I still can't see how we can be any higher than a 7 seed, especially if Kobe doesn't come back soon. I hope I'm wrong, though.

I think Vlade is just trying to score points with the organization. He probably still bleeds purple and gold.

Thank you Vlade for the nice words to Express Sports. cool2

Of course Vlade still bleeds purple and gold. This is the organization that gave him the opportunity to play.

This team is better, younger, deeper and healthier more important chemistry than last year whichever won 45 games. Just watch.

He works for the Lakers as a European scout. So he's towing the company line, and using his name and fame to lend credibility to the remark.

We all know it's overly optimistic. And yet we hope.

Anytime we got Kobe on the floor healthy we got a shot at winning. That's just one man, if he has team mates and all stars like Gasol and Nash actually show up were good.

I'm going to be blunt. If this current roster as of today with Kobe healthy and playing like he did last year wins the west, just build him a damn statue. I love LA but a lot of things would need to go right, mainly health for us and and a cosmic injury but hitting OKC all year.

I don't think the Spurs or GS are winning the west, and I don't think Houston is set to they move Asik. That said I do think it would be a crazy type of thing. A cosmic thing to make it happen, and if it happened that they got to the finals, let alone one, I will tip my hat to Dantoni, Nash, and Pau. Then bitchslap anyone who questions Kobe's legacy ever lol.

I wouldn't hedge my bets against that stubborn bastard if he's got a shot and the dominoes line up right, but boy

I don't get this take that a lot of people seem to have this season. 7th seed? Any coach will notice that pushing Pau to the side in favor of younger, sexier options has done nothing but hamper the Lakers. Treating Pau with the respect he has earned and letting him work in his sweet spots will do wonders for this squad. Just using Pau correctly can turn our fortunes for the better. Mix in more youth than we've had since Kobe was throwing a ***** fit on cell phone video, and we have ourselves a team with plenty of potential. Yeah, we do not have a player like D12 to anchor our defense, but really who does? Just off the top of my head... Pacers (Hibbert), Knicks (Tyson), Thunder (Iblocka/Perkins), and Rockets (D12). Then there are other teams who have the McGee types that are great at swatting shots when in help D. The league has already changed. Check out the Heat. They just have a bunch of active, athletic dudes putting it all on the line on defense. We happen to have signed a bunch of athletic dudes, who if they plan on changing the league's perception of them, have to become active and learn to leave it all out there on the defensive side: Wes Johnson.. this is his last shot to prove he's more than just a journeyman. Nick Young.. If he wants to make more than the league minimum and gain the respect he believes he deserves, then this is the perfect stage to prove himself worthy. Farmar.. After polishing his game overseas, this is his audition to the league. He is out to exhibit his skills. Jordan Hill.. He's already known as an energy guy. That does not....

Vlade? Is that you? Wink Well of course those things could happen. Question is, will they? I'd say it's a glass is 3/4 full pov. A leopard can't change it's spots. You can't teach talent and you can't teach desire. Do these guys you mentioned have either or not? We'll find out, but so far haven't shown a lot. I do wonder what Mitch has in mind for next season, since they must be looking ahead. Something up his sleeve? Chips fall where they may? Counting on F/A's? Or thinking the team may wallow in mediocre land for a few seasons until an opportunity presents itself to rise again? I wonder...
