Bucks will likely take Jennings over Monta Ellis, plus they don't want Pau even if they'd s&t Brandon + someone for Pau, we would end up with Gooden or something which is unthinkable to me.

When I posted earlier I forgot about Calderon, he will 90% stay with the Pistons, but he is more than good for every team in the NBA. If the Pistons decide they want to go with Knight+ Monroe + Drummond + whoever they get in the lottery this year as the young core, Jose might not fit their plans and they'll likely pick someone up who is younger or just re-sign Will Bynum for less. He might be ideal for the MLE is they let him go.

I think Monta Ellis will opt out and leave the Bucks this offseason

If he does that, the more reason he'll give the Bucks to give big money towards Jennings' way.

Dunleavy will likely leave them and would be an Ok pickup for a shooter. I suppose his dad having coached here could also weigh on him taking less money and move to La. I think he'd be ok with a one-year deal too, which suits us.

Honest question so please dont torch me too hard. For all the salary experts out there my question is, is it possible, from a financial stand point-to sign Chris Paul if say Pau were traded or if someone got amnestied?

We would have to clear more cap to sign him. We couldn't re-sign Dwight, we would have to Amnesty Gasol and trade Nash and MWP

From the top of my head, it's possible, but it's a pipe dream situation from a financial standpoint. To sign CP3 , Dwight has to leave,we'd have to let Pau go without bringing back salary and even then we couldn't offer much money to him. If MWP would let his option go too, then we could give him something. We'd have to risk too much for just the chance of signing him, which isn't going to happen anyway.

All Lakers can do with free agents is either sign a player for the MLE (mid-level exception) around 5 million, a player for the BAE (bi-annual exception) at around 3 mil and players for vet/league min which differs depending on how many years the player receiving the contract has been in the league.

A player already on our team on which we have "Bird Rights" whom we can give more money than stated above and exceed salary cap can be re-signed.

Your welcome and yea our cap situation makes it hard for us to sign players. I wish we had cap space this year so we could make a run at CP3 while keeping Dwight

Well he would have to sign for the Mid-Level exception or the Vet's min if he were to come to the Lakers.

Metta World Peace is live tweeting tonight's Memphis vs Clippers game. He's tweeting some interesting stuff. For Example:

Quote:
Metta World Peace ‏@MettaWorldPeace 24m

Marc Gasol and Tim Duncan are the best big men in the game. Glad they are not on the same team

https://twitter.com/MettaWorldPeace/

Maybe a shot at Pau/D12.

Is Memphis still in the game?

What a coach. How does he get the best out of these guys?

Clips lose game 5 at home. Looks like they will be a first round exit. I feel for Chris Paul though he's been doing anything but he is literally the only one to do anything. He deserves better.

Yeah he deserves to be on the Thunder, or he should have been with the Bulls this year since Rose doesn't want to come back, hell maybe he should take a paycut to play for the Heat.

All I know is that when an opportunity to sign a good player presents itself, Mitch better not kick back in his rocking chair and watch that player get signed.

He said Chris Paul deserves better. Do you seriously consider the Lakers "better" then the Clippers at this point in time?

Its just sad and patheic. Clippers though by changing their game plan would help them win the series but Memphis being more aggressive has taken every single momentum the clippers ever had. Blake and DJ are such a joke of a front line.

Lets hope Memphis close it out friday. Flop city fans over on CTB was mentioning how it would be a easy ride to the WCF because Westbrook went down. What happens when you look to far in the future. haha.

Sign and trade for Lopez & picks & make Nets eat one of our bad contracts. I mean Lakers did get a future solid starting SF in the original Dwight trade, so it wouldn't be a total lost.

It baffles my mind when I think about the numerous cheap guys that LAL let get away from them this year. They have to do a better job of scouting because there's got to be a gem out there either in the D-League or on someone's bench.

Lakers get: Kevin Love, Derrick Williams, JJ Barea, Andrei Kirelinko and Marshoon Brooks

Nets get: Dwight Howard and Brandon Roy

Timberwolves get: Brook Lopez, Pau Gasol, Jodie Meeks, Nets 1st

Nash / Barea

Kobe / Brooks

Kirelinko / Clark

Love / Williams

Hill / FA

2014 make a run at Irving, Wall, George, Iggy, Gay , Thompson, or Monroe

Can anyone answer this question?

Let me walk you through my thinking first. We have 68,000,000 in guaranteed contracts next year. I would like to try to go after a free agent like Chris Paul. I am thinking that if somehow Dwight and Paul were to talk to each other and would like to play with each other, we might be able to sign Chris Paul by doing this move.

Amnesty Pau Gasol. We would then have around 49,000,000 in garaunteed. Could we offer Chris Paul a 20,000,000 contract which would then bring our payroll to around 69,000,000. I think cap will be at 70,000,000. But then, we could resign Dwight Howard because we have his Bird rights and be able to go over the cap.

Does this make sense? Is this possible?

Al Jefferson may seem like a smart move because of his offense but trust me, his defense is bad. Also I think even trading Pau and clark for kevin love alone is a stretch.

You dont amnesty a guy like Pau Gasol just because you want to go after Chris Paul. Besides, he wouldnt come anyway. He found a new team and a new home and thats that. Also, to even have any cap space to sign CP3, we would have to amnesty Kobe, trade Pau and let Dwight walk.

That's not possible, Dwight salary would be counted until he sign a contract, its called the free agent amount, here is a link about the salary cap http://www.cbafaq.com/salarycap.htm#Q36

This was a hypothetical sort of a situation. In the case that Dwight and CP3 worked something out behind the scenes or any other free agent for that matter. I just wanted to find out what moves are possible. I want Pau here and healthy with everyone else healthy besides Duhon and Coach Pringles. I don't think its feasible to "blow up the team," I think the squad has a chance to grow with another year together and I don't think we have much flexibility unless we amnesty Kobe, which is the last thing I would like to see.

Some trade scenarios here are ridiculous klove dream on! So i can say trade ebanks for lebron agreed? Just fire the coach.. Add some length and speed plus shot creators.amnesty MWP. Then we can rebuild after that since most of the big load contracts will be expired. Kobe said it best, keep the core then add some pieces. The fo mistake for the past few years was staying away for continuity, they always like to trade some of our core pieces and the chemistry have been affected again. So again add some pieces around this core and from there we win or not. Rebuild.

Sometimes i feel bummed when we had odom, gasol, bynum but mitch try to trade gasol and odom. But why not just build around it? Add some pieces that can help and complement the core.

I like Babbitt, but the problem is he may be a little unproven and with D'Antoni at the helm, he may not get in and play. Be nice to have a coach that knows how to develop the young players and intergrate them., instead of throwing guys, because he has no choice.
