Trade possibilities for Pau Gasol Tom Haberstroh [ARCHIVE] ESPN Insider | December 6, 2012 AP Photo/Mark J. Terrill Teams interested in Pau Gasol will have to contend with his contract as well as his ailing knees. The problem of trading Pau Gasol can be explained by using a line from Business 101: Buy low, sell high. Right now, it's hard to imagine Gasol's trade value ever being lower. To illustrate how far his stock has fallen, let's play our favorite comparison game of Player A vs. Player B. Consider these two big men: Player A: Age: 32 | Contract: 2 years/$19M annually | 2012-13 averages: 12.6 pts, 8.8 rebs, 42....

Andrea Bargnani hell no i found out about him and it's not good news,my friend told me all i need to know about him,she lives in Toronto and has season tickets with her boyfriend, they both had nothing good to say about the soft Andrea Bargnani.

I want to do either the Denver trade for Gallo or the Bucks trade for Monta Ellis and Ersan.

Monta Ellis would be awesome playing for the Lakers,i have always wanted Monta Ellis on our team.

Back when we passed him in the draft for Von Wafer i was upset. He would provide tons of scoring and he would fit the D'Antoni system to a tee.He is a lot like Russell Westbrook when he gets in the zone,he gets in the zone.

Monta Ellis is one of the mos underrated NBA players he never made a all star team yet his career numbers are 19.4 PPG.4.5 AST. 3.7RPG. mind boggling how GSW let him go for a injured Aussie Bogat they should have gotten a much better player in return IMO.Gallo is nice if we get him right on cool.

illyasova has the ability to blow UP! last season after all star break dude averaged rediculous numbers. he rebounds, shoots the 3, and plays pretty awesome defense. Scott skiles has just been a nightmare for him so far this season, which is why he hasnt played to his capacity. monte would be more than welcome Very Happy!!!

Monta Ellis is not happening. We have enough stars our team to make a run for a championship.

I´d do the trade with the Bucks, and also the one that would get us Andre Miller and Danilo Gallinari. I love Millers game.

The trade with Denver would be the best fit, but I would not give up Hill in that one. They can have Earl Clark.

As for the Bucks trade, I might do it.

Katie,

if I remember correctly, 2-3 years back when we had the same problem that we seemingly had for the last 10 seasons, namely finding a true point guard, my suggestion to bring Miller in would mostly be laughed at by a lot of posters, just because of his age. Now that he´s even older, he´s still doing the same exact thing he´s done for a long time now. He´s helping a team out off the bench and is very reliable at that. I love his post-up game and just love to watch him play his game against smaller point guards. He´s probably the craftiest player in the NBA at his size.

I´d welcome him to LA in a heartbeat. We´re only having a 2-year-window with this team anyways, so age won´t be a big issue, especially since we would get a very young forward in Gallinari if that trade ever went down.

yes mamba,

Andre Miller plays like Tim Duncan, samrt and very fundamentally sound in his every move and decisions. i always like him, humble and simple guy. he can help any team in the Nba because of his veteran leadership.

LOL yeah i was a little kid when Andre Miller was in college and he played for Utah and he is a college player that always stood out to me.

He was drafted in 1999 and he has had a great NBA career. When he plays us i know we are in for a battle.I would welcome him,he is like a coach on the floor in essence. We are looking to win now for the next 2 seasons it's a perfect fit Andre Miller would be nice.Gallo i like a lot lot lot.

This article is on point about the options the Lakers have for Gasol. Personally I'd narrow it down to two options.

Get Danillo Gallinari or keep Gasol.

Miller doesnt have to be included in fact I prefer that he wasnt. Duhon has shown some maturity in his game in that he utilizes the pass and only takes good shots. He's definitely not the overly timid Duhon in Orlando or the dysfunctional Duhon with the Knicks. He effectively fills the role Miller would take, and he's got RANGE.

To get a package centered around only Gallinari (which would be ideal) then a 3rd team has to get involved. Denver has that big trade exception for Nene which happens to fit big expiring deals like Corey Maggette of Detroit and Jose Calderon of Toronto.

Galinari and Andre Miller for Pau + Hill + Morris

perhaps we can give Kobe and Howard as well, this trade has 0% probabilities at all

I think me and you are seeing eye to eye on Morris, his defense was pretty good his first couple of games but since then its nothing special. Duhon has proven to be a legit option behind Nash and maybe even take Blakes spot. Morris cannot score at all for some reason, he can get to the rim just to blow a lay up or turn the ball over forcing the Lakers into a 4 vs 5 game while Duhon rest. This is why I have been saying that Morris is the most expendable of the PG's Nash we be great, Blake and Duhon will be good enough for Nash to rest and that leaves Morris taking up a roster spot while at the moment killing every time he is on the floor. I'd cut him to make space for Bell at least Bell has been a consistent 3 point shooter and defender his whole career.

I like the Bucks trade also. I would want Mbah a Moute too if possible. Maybe we can give them Blake and Clark? Mbah a Moute would give us a solid perimeter defender that we are sorely lacking.

He will be fine guys. Jesus.

I won't be coming back on here for a while but before i leave for awhile i say lets do the Bucks trade.I am a big Monta Ellis fan,i never would have thought in 100 years Monta Ellis would be a option for Possibility for us to obtain for Pau Gasol but maybe that was because GSW plays in our division and they didn't trade him to a western conference team.

The Bucks will trade with us nice.

But by the time i comeback i hope we have Monta Ellis and Ersan in Lakers uniforms that would be one hell of a Christmas present.

I love Pau Gasol and i thank him for all the memories and the 2 championships,he is a class act and a true pro and one of the best skilled big men in recent years.

I respect and appreciate Pau Gasol a lot, losing causes trades in the NBA sadly. We might keep him but if not thank you Pau Gasol.Happy Holidays LTB!

they would if they trade for any pg. if not, we would receive a guard and have steve blake, steve nash, morris, and duhon (DJO too, but I hope they don't think about trading him). they would have to give away one of them, especially considering we have a full 15 man roster, so we would have to make room.

if any trade includes gasol, we need young pieces. so, even though I like miller's game and toughness, he's too old. if we some way we could get derrick williams and jennings (plus, maybe 1 more) that would be ideal, in my opinion. but all and all, we need young pieces, and I do mean pieces plural. don't try and give gasol away for 1 mega star. that doesn't necessarily give us any depth that we need and could use. people I wouldn't mind giving away is ebanks, morris, steve blake, (even) duhon even though he have been playing really well in nash's absent.

More than likely Minny for D. Will, Pekovic and Barea. After seeing Jordan Hill get punked by Kanter I would keep Pek.

Other destinations Den for Gallinari and Wilson Chandler or Bucks for Monta Ellis and Illyasova.

I'll take any 3 but prefer Gasol to play hard and determined and find his way

There was another trade that I thought could work for not only the Lakers, but every team involved. It involves pieces that have already been rumored to be on the block. http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=cu5w5ye If you click on that link you'll see the gist of the trade, though there are still some missing pieces cause they can't be moved til Dec. 15th. Hence the trade failed part. Lakers get: Anderson, D. Williams, Jason Smith, and Greivis Vasquez. Minnesota gets: Gasol and Ebanks Hornets get: Pekovic, Hill, Barea, and Morris Why would NO do it. They upgrade at their C position. Pekovic is much more productive than Lopez is.....

Evans is an extremely intriguing option for me. If he can regain form, the Lakers have an ideal running mate for Dwight in the backcourt once Kobe and Nash call it quits.

Not to mention, this trade would help immensely in the short term. Kobe can slide down to SF where he takes less of a ballhandling role- something of paramount importance to Nash-Kobe cohesion. Evans fills the slot at SG, and Metta slides down to PF. I would normally never suggest this, but I deem it appropriate given D'Antoni's offense and Metta's effectiveness tonight playing big minutes at PF. Now that his outside shot is falling with relative consistency, he could act as an extremely serviceable stretch 4.

Salmons will then become the primary backup at SF, bringing an immediate scoring punch off the bench with Jamison and Meeks.

We lose size, but rather transform into a team more fit to run the way D'Antoni wants.
