Nobody said he can't... just that he does it less efficiently against better defenders. Took him 39 FGA's to get that 43 in the Tony Allen clip. If he were any other player on any other team, the coach would have benched him. These days, if Kobe takes more than 25 shots per game against a good team, we will lose... it's that simple.

Wow great point. Everyone of those teams were a top 4 team in those respective years. Very nice.

Thank you for sanity and statistical fact LL. Stu shared a factoid last year that the Lakers generally lose when Kobe shoots more than 18 times or when at least half of the points were not assisted. With several players injured right now he is using this to his selfish advantage but it's not good in the long haul as well he can help his teammates to score as easily as scoring himself.

^ Hate to say it but I think he feels he has a better chance at MVP than another ring right now.

Kobe in his prime could literally do whatever he wanted out on the court on anybody.

It has nothing to do with what he can/can't do... it's about what he should/shouldn't do. He is uniquely gifted with the ability to make his teammates better, but if he plays selfishly the team suffers.

You did not prove anything with this thread. I can remember most of these games, matter of fact. You went back to prime time 05 06 and 06 07 seasons and before that, what about the recent seasons??? I was refferring to mainly the seasons after those. Kobe has consistently lost to teams with LeBron on it his whole career, and hasn't shot the ball well in most match-ups. You might bring up these 5 memorable games, but i'm sure there are 3 or 4 inefficient ones to every bright game above against good teams if you factor in 07-now.

Lets just wait for Lakers vs. Heat, and see how hard Kobe goes. If he does well, i will take my hat off to the guy for playing well against a good defensive team.

I wish Kobe shoves the ball up Wades and LeBron's rear. I'll never forget when Kobe was about to smash on Wade, but Wade decided to foul the sh!t out of Kobe.

No one is denying or even questioning his greatness or his abilities, except for kobe himself.... He is the undisputed number 1 player and probably one of the all time greats. In my mind he is more explosive and a more complete, and an even more pure Shooter than MJ(I have grown up watching MJ and magic/showtime play) However there is no need to prove that at this stage when so many teams look like title contenders. The smartest thing he can do at this stage is get all his players involved so that we could fire at all cylinders when it counts, and when the chips are down he could seize that opportunity to take over the games. Kobe needs to realize that, in the best interests of the team it would be advisable to be more selective about sole domination and he finally needs to assume the role of a leader which he says that he is, but there is no evidence to support that. Great leaders set aside personal glory and do what's best for the collective welfare of the team. As a leader it is his duty to see that all his troops are battle ready and have equal responsibility. They can only be 'battle ready' if they are 'battle tested' His approach, which is to conjure all the credit when things go well, and then delegate all the blame to the teammates when things don't, is not conducive to team work/spirit and camaraderie. It a sign of very poor and petty leadership and will ensure in the long run that he does not acquire the trust of his teammates. Trust is the single most important ingredient which a leader relies on when he goes out to do battle. But trust is also mutual reciprocation......

I remember Kobe scoring and taking over when Shaq was out against the pacers. Leading a crappy team with Smush and Kwame to the playoffs when it was no way we should of made it at all.

Oh and he won 2 without Shaq when we weren't suppose to win anything with him as the leader of the team.. But of course he the only championship player that get criticized for not wining it all by himself like ------ I forgot there is no one that won it without help.

He do shoot to much when we don't win and don't shoot enough when we lose. It just goes to show how great being a Lakers fan is Smile

We all could of easily been debating as Wolves or Bobcats fans about who should shoot the ball.lol

I think some people said can/can't in the last post. Or at least stated that they would be impressed if Kobe did 40 on a good team. This leaves room to think he hasn't yet. Of course he has guys. We've all seen it.

Efficiency is a good point to bring up because playoff time it hurts us if he shoots too much and we actually have other hot hands. What's special about having Kobe is that when he starts heating up, the other team is dead in the water. That's why I say with 9 or 10 minutes to go in the 4th, unleash thy titan.

I'm happy with Kobe going off on these teams right now, becuase they come off of assists from Barnes, Bynum, Fish, and Gasol. We are playing team ball right now, but some people aren't believing it. This isn't iso triangle anymore.

Furthermore, if Kobe shoots over 50%, and 80% from the line, he has a license to kill. When he's off, he needs to tone it down and use his bigs. Lately, his licence is good.
