this is absolutely a no brainer .. it doesn't matter if ESPN picks Kobe over Lebron .. it doesn't matter if NBA tv picks Kobe over Lebron .. it doesn't even matter if MJ picks Kobe over Lebron .. the stats on his resume speak for Kobe .. in a way, Kobe picked himself over Lebron and I can't wait for the season to begin so Kobe can once again silence the critics and show the world why he is the best in the league and why he will be one of the best in NBA

You are right Pagdubious. Kobe's resume does speak for itself. MJ won his 5th ring, when he was 35. Kobe won his 5th ring, at 31. For years Kobe has been in the discussion, and his career is far from over. Kobe is still in the prime of his career. It was only injuries that prevented Kobe from putting up better numbers this year. A healthy Kobe, will reign supreme next year. Of this, i have no doubt.

Hey are you some of the same people who laughed at Jordans picks of Kwame Brown and Adam Morrison? Now you guys love his pick of Kobe over Lebron.

Completely different, he sucks as a GM (most of the great players suck as coaches and GMs) but great players know how to evaluate OTHER GREAT players.

I wouldn't want MJ drafting for me but if I want an opinion on other greats like Jerry West, Karl Malone, Dr. J, etc etc...I'd definitely hold the opinion of fellow great players in higher regard than almost any other group of people (coaches may be the only other group).

Another way to put it is like this. Great player suck at finding talent in a sea of tens of thousands of players throughout the country, but wind down the choices to a select few (all-time greats, HOFs, or all-stars) then I think they know what they're talking about.

New Poster here (hello all) but have been a Laker fan for 41yrs. Ugh.

Regarding the MJ picks KB topic there are to many variables left out. Kobe is 32 and LBJ is 25. Obviously any GM would take LBJ for the long term. If we are talking 1 year.....I'll buy that. More than one year (and I am a HUGE Laker fan) and you are asking for real trouble with Kobe at 34yrs of age.

Age beats even the greatest of athletes. I would assume MJ would rather be shooting over Craig Ehlo right now than doing Haines "won't bacon" lay-flat commercials......you get the idea.

I think MJ sees a lot of himself in Kobe, especially their demeanor and personality. They know they are great and can back it up on the court. They also have the hardware, rings, and accolades to show for it.

.....Now if we are talking who is the better player over the course of their career (that page is obviously still is not written yet), but Kobe wins in a knockout until further notice.
