Repped High Quality Post
Dear Jordan, To tell you the truth, I never felt comfortable saying Jordan when referring to you because there was a great player by that name and you are not great and most likely never will be, solid at best. In all honesty, you never reminded me of Jordan, but you did flash strong resemblances to Smush Parker with your ill-advised lobs and terrible passes for turnovers. I just wanted to wish you the best of luck in your quest for being a starting point guard for whatever team that you choose. However when I looked at all the teams in the NBA, there is only one team that you could possibly start for and that’s Indiana. The reason that Indiana has shown interest in you is because they are starving for a point guard, any point guard. So, without a doubt you will be going to Indiana to realize your dream of starting in the NBA to only realize it won’t be there next season once Indiana realizes your faults as a point guard. Farmar, can you help me understand something? You said that you feel that the triangle was limiting you. I can understand you feeling that way because the triangle limits a lot of players, but they find ways to contribute to the greater good, look at Lamar and Artest for example. Here is the question I had to ask. Did the Lakers play the triangle defense? You seemed severely limited on defense also, so is it the triangle defense or is the triangle offense limiting you offensively and defensively? I’ve never understood how a screen could be set on you and you would be stuck to the screen as if you were wearing a Velcro jersey like Sasha Cohen....

Lakerfrommass and blovd123: Thanks, Farmar has been the source of my frustrations for two years. Phil let the second unit play uptempo that one year and Farmar did good, but then Phil slowed them down and had them play more triangle and Farmar started pouting, wanted to be a starter, triangle was hurting his game, etc... I can't stand the guy's attitude and he could pull a SMush Parker and be out the league soon.

gemfow,

Very good post. My thing is Jordan is just a young dude not seeing the forest for the tree's. The knowledge that he has obtained OR should have obtained is invaluable. Playing with one of the greatest players ever AND one of the greatest coaches ever is an opportunity that may only come along once in a lifetime IF EVER! Not to mention he was in Los Angeles, hellllllloooooo. Swimming pools, movie stars etc..

NJ: I think that's one thing that bothered me about Farmar. He is a young guy, but instead of paying his dues, getting better and beating out the old vet, he seems to expect that the starting spot should be given to him. Shesh, Kobe beat out Eddie Jones with hard work and determination to get better. Farmar has learned nothing from Fish like fighting through screens or playing defense. Derek is limited because of age and yet he still played better D than a 12 year younger Farmar.

Diss the guy all you want, and while for the most part I agree with what most everyone has said...I gotta say that he really came through for us in the playoffs and the Finals. He was mostly playing under control and within the offense. He had his stupid moments, but besides Pau and D-Fish, I cant think of anyone on the team that didn't do something completely stupid at at least one point in the playoffs. I am not a huge fan of Farmar because of his attitude, but I just felt that someone had to give him props for lifting the bench up in some very key moments of these playoffs.

I won't really miss you Jordon, but I ain't gonna kick you out the door like you're Kwame Brown or something. Good luck.

VegasLakeshow: None of us had to kick him out the door like he was Kwame Brown because he wanted to leave. Farmar had his moments, but for the most part becaue of his mentality he was useless a majority of the time. He played at Taft, had two years at a decent basketball program at UCLA, but when he played for a HOF coach in the NBA, he felt that him listening to his coaches on the highschool level and college level was more important than listening to his current coach. Farmar said something along the lines of he was always coached to let the game come to him, get other people involved or something along those lines. However he said Phil wants him to be an energy guy, come in and run the offense, something he was never coached to do it that way or some BS he said. He didn't want to change his game for the greater good of the team, so if a pg can't be a team player, then damn, let this guy bounce with a quickness.

So what? Sasha had that 20 point game in the 08 finals. Are we still supposed to kiss his a**? Come on now...

Great post Gemfow. I still have mixed feelings about this, because I DO see potential, and lots of confidence in Farmar. Only time will tell if we made a mistake.

Farmar getting interest from Blazers, Knicks, and Pacers.

This is Ford's take on the Pacers situation:

Quote:
"The question is ... do they want to overpay for a guy who could never beat out an aging Derek Fisher in L.A.? They explored all sorts of deals for Devin Harris, Darren Collison, Ty Lawson, Eric Maynor etc. at the draft. I feel like if they're patient, they probably land a better PG."

I love it! Farmar will NEVER be as good as he talks himself up to be. There's no part of his game that is strong, except the big game he talks. Good riddance loser. IF you find a starting position...I feel sorry for that team.

Farmar was a decent player. Nothing spectacular though. Watched his game throughout college. Pretty good college player, but struggled a bit in the NBA. I doubt he'll be a starter on any team (except maybe the T-wolves, but that's even a long shot) any time soon. Wish him the best though.

I would rather have Oj mayo or nic young than the famer..I feel like we were all farmers when famar was playing..we all hoped he would grow into something special..but turned out to be a bad crop...

Showtime: Farmar was crabgrass that needed to be pulled so the lawn could look better. I know people love Brown, but I hope he is gone too. I know Brown will take his dunks with him, but I'd rather see some player who is a little more under control, but I fear that the Lakers can get older too quick because Farmar and Brown are young guys.

If true, Farmar may do well in Indiana. I mean where are all the hot spots to party in Indianapolis?

If only he would've had the mentality to 1. Pass 1st 2.) Shoot 2nd, we wouldn't be looking for a point guard.

userpete: The key thing is Farmar's mentality. I have a hard time respecting a player who hasn't worked his butt off to get better in all facets of the game but thinks the starting spot should be given to him. Farmar is 23, athletic as hell, fast, he could have learned a lot from Derek Fisher and his coach, but he decided to pout instead and he regressed as a player. If a guy with his physical abilities can't beat out an old vet with limited physical abilities then something is wrong there. People say Phil won't ever put a pg over Fish. I disagree, it's just that no one has outplayed Fish, even Farmar. Fish was playing bad almost all season, that was Farmar's time to shine and show not only the coach but the world something, but damn he played just as bad, if not worse.

You're right. Phil WOULD indeed start somebody over Fish if they were deserving. He started Payton over Fisher, Ron Harper over Fisher, gave Shaw more minutes than Fisher, and even Ty Lue got more minutes than Fish at one point. The problem last season, nobody deserved to play more than Fish. Good call Gem.

Gem, I actually looked!

All I found was his Facebook account and some 68 yr old named Jordan Farmar's address. Post the letter on his wall and send letter to old Farmar?

My letter to Jordan Farmar:

Thanks for the years of service as a loyal Laker and helping us to win a couple of Championships. Good luck with your next team. Don't let guys who can not outplay their grandma's get you down. Go out and play hard wherever you end up and be the best you can be.

A Loyal Laker Fan

JamFan: Farmar a loyal Laker? Apparently you went to UCLA with him or either he gave you his used unwashed personally autographed jock strap. How does a player wanting to leave because he can't beat out a 35 year old pg for the starting job constitute him being loyal? Throughout the season he said he wants to go somehere he can start, does that sound loyal? I think the only loyalty I've seen is you being loyal to Farmar. For the record, I can outplay my grandma and yours too.

Showtime: I like crapgrass better, lol. I'm glad dude is gone, especially his attitude.

HA! That was a terrific post man.

Thing that really pisses me off about farmar is, he hits one shot, or makes one good play, and then he thinks he's some sort of basketball god. IDK if i can count how many times he's hit a 3, or made a layup one play, and the next possession down he screws up.

Anyway, See ya Jordan, you'll be begging to come back...

Precisely...too many chances. He has the ability but from the neck up, something seems to be malfunctioning as if he never hears what he's told and with those ears, you'd think he'd hear lions roaring on the African tundra!

Yea...that was harsh!

Gemfow- I also wish Farmar the best where ever he goes. I won't add anything to what you said but boy have I ripped Farmar for the past two years now and finally the day has come. To this date, I will never understand how Farmar never took it upon himslef to take over Fishers job. It was there for the taking and he gave us the same plays, same mistakes and the arrogance to top it all off. As a two time champion, we will see if he will ever grow as a player. I hope so but I have my doubts.
