I was thinking that the Lakes should trade KCP

Anyway, that big Rockets performance could be a fluke...but I sense the Lakers still have that Dr. Buss magic somewhere in their genes and Kuzma is the next Kobe.

Statistically I am playing the longshot here...but maybe I am right. So far, he is better than BI, period. Time will tell.

Also in this trail kkennon noted that "We don't have any 1st round picks that can't be traded until 2020."

I keep getting this vision that in Star Wars someone says, "Next year we finally keep our picks as the Steve Nash deal is finally over."

That's not exactly true. They could swap picks in 2019 and opt to get the worst 1st round pick. That's how Brooklyn haven't had a good first round pick these past years.

^^^^^ I'm down with that, shed some cap. Trade a center too. I still want to see Bryant play.

Get Cousins now or at the end of the year. We need a big and he's the best one out there

I'll take 25 and 10 all night ... and some defense ... I'll deal with the 10 technicals a year ,no problem

Agree, unfortunately Pels are starting to put it together and reports are he likes it there. Plus the fact that other teams can offer more if he says he'll sign .

For some reason I think we're going to get him in the off season...lol. Just a feeling of mine.

I hope your right. But if they do trade for him by or before the deadline what is it going to cost?

Highly doubtful, they're in the playoffs right now, if they trade him at deadline and are still in playoff chase, how do they explain that to AD.

Not sure what It'd cost. My thing is will the Pelicans trust that he'll resign with them and let him become an UFA? I know he may love being in the NO because he's close to his family in Mobile, AL but if he becomes an UFA and Magic comes calling, not sure he'd turn him down but then again, the guy deserves all the money he can get and NO can pay him the most so man I don't know. I just know he's the guy that I wanted from the beginning.

Remember he was content to stay in Sac, so don't know if big market motivates him. Guess we'll find out at deadline or off season. Lol

Disagree about the 1. Clarky is a sucky 1, and Ennis too. Now we do have Caruso, who might be something. And we need a shooter.

Absolutely he has my vote. Lol. You want to play fast and jog behind the pg then sit your azz down. Lol. I don’t think anybody could have broken it down better. See the game threads and you will notice most of the stuff he said, we have already touched upon like different guys bringing the ball up. That’s the fkn PG’s job only. And then the senseless pre determined subs!!!

That's what I'm saying, don't think big market matters to him. Only thing we can hope for is Pels don't make playoffs and Cousins being a Lakers fan growing up wants to come, but how many players have said that, than not signed here. Lol

Exactly. A suitable usable decent back up 1. Brewer played great in that one game. If he came come with that every time he's called upon, then it could be him, but he doesn't. With Caruso it's way too soon to tell.

I would swap BI for Cousins in a NY minute. "Potential don't pay the rent" as a friend of mine used to say. I simply don't see Ingram as a superstar. Zo, Kuz and Cousins would be a formidable "Big Three."

I'd do that first deal minus us giving them a 2020 1st round pick

I'd even do the 2nd deal if I had to

No on the Ingram deal

I'd think about doing Ingram deal if it included Deng.

I agree. I'd do that all day. Then sign PG 13 and we're done. Another idea was to give them Clarky and Randle and Dung. And move BI to the 2. Or swap him and PG as needed. Or BI to the bench to back up PG. All look good to me. Look at Ball's progress fairly quickly, and Kuz, even Jordan and Hart. Point is BI is slow to develop so far. When you can see how things should be, looking up month to month, while BI keeps having set backs. I don't know if he can be the next big thing. Maybe wrong, but I'd give him up. Hey we can't keep them all. And of the 4, he'd be the 1st I dealt. But that's me.

Don't know about next big thing, but BI is and has been showing improvement, he's almost doubled his scoring output from last season , also raised his fg%, 3pt%, rbs and assist.

Having said that, I'd trade him if it included Deng for Cousins. Other than that ,I'd just go after Cousins in FA.

Id only consider the Ingram deal. But even then I'd pass. Could sign him as a free agent or he can stay in NO. not giving up all that for him.

I think the point was if we wait until the off season anything can happen, including the likelihood of him signing elsewhere, and that perhaps now is our best chance.

Yeah, but they could trade for him and he could always leave at end of season. Taking a chance either way.

In all fairness he was only putting up 9 points a game, which was pretty bad.

Still has improved, there are high picks that can't crack starting lineup.

He didn't have to crack it either. He was just put in regardless of not being ready at the time. If I was the coach I'd have him coming off the bench still. He shouldn't be a starter until year 3 or 4 imo.

He putting up 16 a game, so if that's the case ,than a lot of high picks shouldn't be starting.

Our current roster, minus Slopez and Ball, took the Rockets to double OT. Beat them the time before, and took GS to OT. Then they lay an egg against bad teams like Dallas. Very schizo.

So makes it hard to judge what capabilities this roster has. We're behind last years W/L, which is hard to believe. Yet are sort of playing better, at times, maybe. I don't know what to suggest anymore. This team has had a tendency for years now, even with KB, to play up or down to the level of the competition. They just don't have their own impetus, their own strong ID. And they need to create that, before they can get anywhere imo. And how do a bunch of pro players not be able to best 50% ft's as a team. And are last in the league in several dept's. That's inexcusable, and possibly lazy. I just don't know.

If you remember Luke was never a very good ft shooter. Is his imprint too strong on this team? They're really playing like he did when he was a pro. lol He was a pass first guy, but also a turn over machine who couldn't shoot. And was overpaid! Sound familiar? lol

I think they should hire Foxy as an asst coach. If they want to keep bringing in ex Lakers. At least that guy played D and played with tenacity. And was clutch and protected the ball. And he's intelligent and articulate more than most. And has great teeth! lol I always wondered why he didn't get into coaching.

Can’t understand how there are talks about parting with BI when Cousins can be had as an UFA. What if we trade for him and he walks? We all assumed Howard wanted to play for the lakers and would stay. But he ended up showing the finger. Lol. We end up giving up our assets for nothing. Now if you want to give up Dungman, Lopez, KCP....by all means. We shall even throw in one(or more) of the assistant coaches for free.

Just focus on one big free agent (Cousins) no need to save cap for 2. Minny needed just one (Butler) to make them legit. We are hanging with everyone especially the world champs GSW and took them to 2 O/T’s along with HOU. We even beat them once to end their streak. Improve in increments. You cannot become world champs overnight.

Don’t hoard cap space, that’s a dangerous game. Do some smart signings and get complimentary shooters for Zo, for crying out loud along with some Defensive specialists. Wish they never dumped Nwaba. Nwaba and Hart would have stifled the opposition from scoring in bunches. When you build a strong balanced foundation It’s a selling point in itself to FA’s.

Lakers have made many errors. Dumping Nwaba was one of them. As was getting rid of Lou imo. Imagine how many more games we'd have won this year, all those close ones of which there've been many, and how much more attractive we'd be looking to FA's right now, if we had a late game sharp shooter and a defensive stopper. And we'd still have the money for 1.5 max guys. I get the no D and all with Lou, but most great shooters don't play great D. It's not their job. But that guy is money late in games. Not many like that around.

Exactly. Hoarding cap space achieves nothing other than having no tax bill at the end of the year.

But having no tax bill may be the point. For some teams. Lakers have been well under for several seasons now. Time to pay the piper. The teams that win spend more.

Same in Football, same in Baseball. Simple as that. Undeniable. Yet the NBA was trying to discourage that practice, and it backfired.
