Hope this 2019-plan is the case, as I would rather see either Jimmy Butler or Klay Thompson starting alongside Ingram than Paul George. Better fit IMO.

And don't want to see an aging Lebron and no one else struggle to match up with Golden State.

Also there are several other unrestricted stars next year to tie up the attention of other teams... Kawhi, Kemba, Kyrie, Whiteside, D.Powell, Howard, Love, Faried, T.Harris, etc.

Hopefully with the seemingly lack of interest in Randle by other teams we can resign on a team-friendly deal. Keep Clarkson. And look for other quality "fringe-starter" players to sign to team friendly deals, 2-3 year deals with maybe team or player options in there.

Possible free agents to sign that might not be the most expensive, in no order:

Dewayne Dedmon- likely the starter at center, with Randle as power forward playing inside on offense while Dedmon can spread the floor

Nerlens Noel- if at a low-price deal, which i think is possible. He can play as a backup center or situational starting center, but I don't really see him and Randle on the floor together much.

I wouldn't mind signing Avery Bradley, very similar player as KCP. This summer will be interesting. Many experts are saying FA signings will be low after the top tier Max guys get their money

I agree, I'm just saying that notion that so many Lakers fans say is that our only goal last year was to sign 1 year players, is false. We had no legitimate players that wanted to come here, so at that point the next best move is to watch our spending. Unlike the last FO, they couldn't find any long term players, so they decided to get sucked into Deng and Mozgof.

I personally don't hold our FO hostage to the signings we didn't get last summer. They were still trying to sell a product that they had no hand in making. I think our FO has done a good job up to this point, this summer will tell a lot more though

I am with you, about this summer. if we miss out on all max deal players this summer, then we need to find that mid tier player that makes us better, but I would still like the flexibility of 1 max guy, for the trade dead line the following year.

That's what I hope they do, sign some complimentary pieces and maintain some flexibility.

So what is the plan. Another year of rentals? What does that achieve?

Lol and I hope they don’t penny pinch Randle to agree to $12m like some out here are suggesting. That’s absurd. You give $16-18m to borderline washed up bums like Deng and Mozgov...and expect 23yr old Randle to settle for $12m, are you fkn kidding me!!!

If the mavs are seriously considering Randle, they will have no problem paying him. They certainly ain't afraid to spend money.

They will to make him tradeable, if they're still on the 2 max player thing.

Hopefully they realize chasing 2 max unicorns is an exercise in futility, once they announce in 2019 that they are recalibrating again for 2020. Lol. I think reality has set in that charismatic personalities in the front office means squat. You need a product on the floor first. Spend the existing cap on some decent talent and improve incrementally. Build a healthy, winning culture to lure free agents in the future. What’s the rush?

We don’t need cuckoos like that on our team. He can keep psycho babbling and debating with himself..lmao... while the youngsters turn the corner. He can keep playing sidekick to Westbrook and the scrub called Melo. Fed up of the daily antics of these so called superstars.

If he comes I'll take him, if not ,that's fine too !!! Like what I'm seeing out of this team , but still don't think all of our core will be on it next season or if not than, at end of next season. My #1 target went down in Cousins, so I'm fine with team. Just add some shooters.

Exactly we need a collection of sharp knock down shooters. Keep stock piling them. Like you I wanted Cousins as well, but now I’m indifferent.

The way I see it, after today's trade these will basically be our targets this offseason or next offseason depending on how we spend our cap space this offseason.

2018:

Paul George

I know we may not want him, but Magic will, so L. James

Julius Randle

Deandre Jordan (if he opts out)

2019:

Klay Thompson

K. Leonard

J. Butler

Dwight Howard (just kidding!)

How would you guys like to see things go? Or how do you think it'll go?

Out of those free agents we are supposedly after in the next 2 offseasons, James, George, Thompson, Khawi and maybe Butler, I honestly think as far as fit goes, Thompson would be the best addition to our roster. 1. He's the most true SG out of that group, aside from center, our weakest position now. 2. he's the best shooter of the group, the biggest weakness of our team. 3. Quite sure he'd be the best as far as not needing the ball as much as the rest, lower usage rate, etc. 4. He may not be the biggest star out of those names, but honestly, he could probably average close to 30 on a different team, and he's a hell of a defensive player. So I think he'd be my top choice.

Just read Lavar said Lonzo won't resign with Lakers if they don't sign Melo and Gelo to play with him. If that's true then Zo won't be with us for to long. No way, no how do I sign either of those guys period. FUG DAT SHYT!!!!

I hope it’s not true, but if it is I have nothing more to do with BBB. Period. We will have to recalibrate the Pg position.

He is restricted and the Lakers have the final say, what's he going to do? Quit the NBA and play in China? That's the only way he can leave

LMAO!!! Like BI couldn't shoot !!! Zo is 12th best player in league on defense and 5th best guard on D. Also 9th in league in assists, on a team with no consistent shooters. And was shooting over 40% from 3 in last few games he played, all in rookie season, but yeah he's not that great. Lol

That’s a bit over the top I would reckon. Nobody’s getting traded. You don’t abandon your top two pick on a whim. They will figure it out.

Based on his ability to elevate others games, and make everyone want to play with him is reason enough to invest in him. Fans severely underestimate the skill of making others better. Everything else he has and will have in his arsenal in the future really are just bonuses.

Regarding his father, I trust the kid to make his own decisions when it comes time. If we’re wrong then it is what it is, but again I’m fairly confident

For those who think PG13 will stay with OKC, we should remember what it will cost OKC to make that move. Westbrook and Adams are locked in at 35mil/25mil. Melo will opt in to his 28 million, because he will get anything near that from anyone else. Then you add in PG13 30 million max deal to resign him. Lastly, they will be getting the worse penalty the NBA has for being over the cap 3 of the last 4 years. So you take there 140 million salary for rooster and then add 60 million in penalties.

So for OKC to keep this exact team that doesn't likely reach finals, it will cost them 200 million next year alone.

Then some say, well Melo will be gone the next year, sure he will be. But you can't replace him with another player.Since they are so far over the cap, letting Melo go after next year still keeps them over the cap and they can't sign anyone of any significance.

So really PG13 is kind of trapping himself in OKC on a team that will be no better then 3rd in West ever.

That is why it is key to have young players on cheap deals, like us. Unless your GSW, having 4 guys on a max deal at the time they signed it, will not work.

One thing Ray, if PG13 wants to stay, he could opt in on last year of contract. Than he'd be 10 vet in 2019/2020 season and can sign bigger contract. They'd still would probably go over cap, but him opting in would help as far as tax next season and signing FA's following it ,after they let go of all the tax holds.

Rather have PG13 over Klay, think Klay is Robin to someone's Batman and it has something to do with playing next to Curry, just don't think he's a player that's going to lead a team deep into play-offs himself . Imo
