I don’t know personally I think this makes them better than before. Paul was on the down slide. Mostly will depend on how they can run the offense with those two playing together. I don’t know if Westbrook is good enough to play off the ball. Maybe as a slasher but he is a horrible spot up shooter option. So will be interesting to see how they work together. Maybe him be in the Steve Nash role? I don’t know harden needs the ball a lot.

D'Anus isn't the right coach for that team in HOU period. He'll be a lame duck coach next season which shouldn't be a shock since they want to part ways with him anyway.

It’s gonna be interesting to see harden and Westbrook back together on the same team. It was a lot different back when harden was in OKC. Harden was the 6th man role then. Also harden and Westbrook have had the #1 and #2 usage percentage in the nba for the past 5 years. I’m curious to see how they will make it work. I think if anybody has to take a step back it would have to be harden off the ball because he can shoot whereas Westbrook really isn’t that good a shooting.

Houston took a chance on the CP3/Harden combo. Didn't go well really. Now they're doing the same with Westbrook. Odd choices. Guess we'll see how it goes. Maybe they should try and get Dragic so they can have 3 ball hog PG's lol. No balance on that team. Always been their problem (in the Harden era). First mistake was getting rid of Ariza. Downhill since then. THey'll have to move Harden back to the 2. And take the ball out of his hands. Use RW as a slasher to collapse the D and fire it out to Harden from range. I don't see this ending well.

There's a thread for every single other move in the NBA, yet everyone came here to discuss Paul and Westbrook, vs starting a new one for that topic, which after all is a non Laker move. There's a thread started for the CP3 move. So I'll cloud the waters even more, and show this one off Wink

NBA trade block: Kevin Love, Kyle Lowry among 11 big-name players that could be moved

Speaking of Free Agents, this is a nutty stat...

Only 8 of 24 players from the 2017 NBA All-Star Game remain with their original teams

Pity we have no picks to offer for Iggy. Neither do the Clips. So at least there's that. In fact who does anymore?

How do you know he'll come to Lakers, rumors say he was really impressed by Rockets organization when they were trying to get him as a FA.

Just saying every time a player is a FA , media always connecting them to Lakers, and few of them actually end up on team.

So I know currently there has not been much talk on CP3 getting a buyout since his contract is huge. But lets pretend like he does and he wants to come to Lakers. How do you guys feel about that.

Personally I think it has a chance to happen, his only chance to play for any contender is to get a buyout with OKC so he can pick his team and go there for minimum deal. No contender has 38 mil in cap space and OKC is looking to move without taking anything back or very little back. They don't want to trade him only to take back 38 million divided between 4 guys. They just want him gone.

CP3 would cost us $30,905,185 in contracts to trade for him later this year when we have players available to trade. Just curious if this would even be an option.

    KCP - 8,089,282

    McGee - 4,000,000

    Cook - 3,000,000

    Rondo - 2,564,753

    Dudley - 1,620,564

    Daniels - 1,620,564

Total: 20,895,163

I feel like all these guys will not see many mins when it really comes down to the playoffs, usually a playoffs rooster only has a 8 man rotation. So it appears if we wanted to trade for CP3 Danny Green would have to go. Not saying this is what I want just curious what we lose to get CP3.

Most likely package would be:

    Green- 14,634,147

    KCP - 8,089,282

    McGee - 4,000,000

    Rondo - 2,564,753

    Daniels - 1,620,564

    Total: 30,908,746

Our Best line up

CP3 / Bradley / Kuz / Lebron / AD

Only way we are getting CP3 is if he somehow gets bought out. For one I wouldn't want to lose Green and other guys who would have to be included into the deal to make it work. Plus, he is still on the books through 2021. Yes he has a player option for the 2021 season but there is no way at age 36 or 37 he is not going to take that 44 million dollar payout. Plus the Lakers aren't going to risk losing out on cap flexibility for the 2021 offseason. They've already made it known that they are positioning themselves for that offseason. Three, from the OKC side there is no way they are taking that trade either because they aren't wanting to take back that much salary and they also will want draft picks which we don't have to offer anymore. So The only way CP3 comes here is if he is bought out. Any trade discussion there is no point because it won't and can't happen.

Hopefully nothing, let him go mess up some other team. Another locker room cancer, that's getting to old to be even worth it. Imo

I agree the only way he is coming here is if he is bought out, however OKC will not be getting picks for CP3 they will most likely have to send picks to move CP3. Also true they don't want to take back salaries, but the ones I mentioned in deal are mostly 2 year deals and they could easily move those pieces, at least easier then cp3.

However I do not want to trade for CP3, just curious as to what we would have to move out to get him in a trade.

Chris Paul is begging the Lakes for a spot since all others are not interested in bring the aging guard

On board. I’m hearing Chris is scared that he may have to

Play ball overseas if the Lakes don’t pick him up.

He would have to get a buyout 1st, which I don't see happening. That's a lot of dead money that would be on OKC books.

But if they did work something out, I be happy to pitch in for 1 way plane ticket to whatever city oversea he wants to go. Lmao

Don't see the Lakers tying up their future for him. Too much baggage there now. And Heat are interested. What I find perplexing is why OKC would take back CP in that deal for Russ. They acquired loads of picks, and are in an unprecedented position with respect to their future options. Why would they do that then? It's as tho, as has been speculated here recently, that the NBA is steering the ship of how teams should be acting, what they should be doing, to create that ever elusive parity Stern/Silver squirt over. If it sounds like a duck, and looks like a duck, it's a duck. Just sayin'.

Yes we got played. Yet it worked out better than we could have hoped. Win or lose on the season, this was a winning (big time) FA for Lakers. And yes we got played by KL. If that was him trying to show how clever he is, or how much power he believes himself to have, good luck. He'll get run out of the gym in Doc's system. How long 'til he gets injured? Or PG? Anyone? lol

Yeah I posted earlier that I thought the only sum difference pre or post KL, the PG position. But we have options there for now. And who's to say we don't grab someone better during the season. I think what we have now is a good start.

I saw that earlier and knew this is the first step...err...third step towards getting the Greak Freak out here in free agency. J.Kidd was step one. AD step two. Lol.

Remember GF wanted AD to join him in Milwaukee.

I think it’s fine. The two way contract is for guys who you see potential in but are a working progress. I watched his highlights he’s got the athleticism and length to be a good player. He just needs some work to develop. If not then oh well not seeing anybody else out there that I can see having better potential right now. Cacok look good but he has a limited game. Basically the two way contract like your gambling money.
