Personally,

In the Light Beer category

Sam Adams Light

Probably the BEST tasting light beer out there. You can't even tell that it is a light beer.

Stout category:

Samuel Smith's Oatmeal Stout

Smooth, and has a great chocolaty after-taste.

Sam Adams light? Is this a joke? You know where Sam Adams Beers are from right?? LOL!! As far as Samuel Smith's Oatmeal stout, even though I'm a Limey, never had it before. Although I am no longer a drinker, when I was a wee lad, my favourite tipple was Caffrey's Irish ale. Not quite a lager and not an ale, but velvety smooth like a stout.

^^^ Good ol' America, BABY!!!

Can you name a BETTER Light beer? I would need some convincing.

Also, if you like the Cream beers, have you ever tried Boddington's Pub Ale?

It's like honey in a beer can.

Hey if you're content with drinking BOSTON beer, then so be it....lol

Aaahh, good old Boddingtons, that would be the closest second to Caffrey's, but I assure you once you've had Caffrey's, nothing else is quite like it. As far as light beers go, they're kinda like fake boobs, they're good but nothing like the real thing..... lol

Then don't come to England.....lol

Actually, the warm beer in England is a myth. I used to own a pub and certain beers are actually supposed to be served at different temperatures. Just like red wine is best served at room temperature. Beers such as lagers should be served cold and beers such as ales should be served at a warmer temp to accentuate the flavours.

Guiness was also one of my favourites too. To pour a perfect guiness, hold the glass at 45 degree angle and pour three quarters of the way up and stop and let it rest for a moment. Once it settles, finish pouring, reducing the angle as you approach the top of the glass. If it is a good guiness, the head should not be more than an inch and you should be able to draw a face on the head with your finger. hhhmmm sure brings back fond memories...

Friend of mine went to the Guinness brewery, and had a pint fresh from the line. She said it was warmer than room temperature, but the best Guinness she had ever had.

Stuise Dirty Horse is my favorite. It's rare that I get get my hands on one though, so if I'm just going to hit up a local store - I'll normally go for a Corona.

Ah. Fun thread.

Blue Moon, anyone?

Widmer Hefeweizen.

And Nukies (Newcastle).

Guinness, never liked it much, outside of Irish car bombs (Guinness + a shot of Bailey's Irish cream). Yummy.

Oh, Newcastle.... probably the best beer from a frozen mug.... Mmmmm. If you've ever been to Island's Restaurant, I suggest you order one from there. Pairs amazingly with a burger.

Well it's not so much funny, but more gross out. My friends and I attended a party at some hotel many years ago - I believe I was still a student at the time. Needless to say the party turned out to be a dud so my mate dan and I were pretty bored. we were drinking guiness and no amount of alcohol would numb the boredem of the party so for fun we started pouring the guiness into the ashtrays and started chugging the guiness from the ashtrays (cig butts and all) to see who could stomach it. After my second attempt to trying to drink the ghastly concoction, I could no longer go any further and spit everything back into the ashtray. I guess at this point my buddy decided to outgross everybody and drink what I had spit back into the ashtray. Funnily enough, I was the one who ended up throwing up.

^^^ HOLY CRAP that's a pretty disgusting story. Lol. Mine would either be the time I got arrested for public intoxication at a fair or the first time I ever got drunk in high school and apparently made out with a fat chick at a party. So uh, as for the fair story... Some of my college buddies and I drank a bunch before we left for the fair. Southern Hospitality (SoCo+Cranberry+Red Bull), Jager-bombs (Jager+Red Bull), JD/Coke, and beer. I was pretty damn buzzed before I got there, and then the JD/coke decided to really kick in right after I got in. I was relatively loud and I guess I caused enough of a scene to attract some attention. I went into the bathroom to yak, and it was around then that the cops showed up. Apparently they said I was being uncooperative. When they told me to get up, my exact words were, "Dude, not yet. Go away. ****." I ended up getting handcuffed while my head was still in the toilet bowl, and they carted me away to the station. Funny thing is, they were from a county about 25 miles away from where I lived, and so that's where I had to spend the night. In a tank top, too. I froze my nips off in the holding cell. For some strange reason, they decided to let me go at 4:00 AM. Friggin' dark and cold outside. And of course, I didn't have my car; it was left at the fairgrounds, so I had to walk a mile to a gas station to ask for directions, a mile and a half to the train station, ride the train for 30 minutes to a bus station, and ride the bus for about 2 hours until I got back home. And....

Haha, never. They had a story to tell too.

So when I had to yak, I'd gone to the bathroom by myself. When the cops showed up, they interrogated me and my friends separately. Apparently our stories didn't click, lol. The officers just got more agitated by our lies and tossed me in the back of a cart and started to drive me away. From my seat, I saw the funniest image imaginable: two drunk dudes trying to chase after a golf cart, but also trying to make sure the cops driving the cart couldn't see them, as if they were drunk ninjas. Needless to say, they couldn't keep up.

They had no idea that I was taken off the fairgrounds and to the county jail, because the cops just told them that I was gonna be taken away. There was a police holding area ON the fairgrounds that my friends assumed I was in. One of them thought, "Dude, we can't try to get him out while we're still this drunk!" So the other one had an equally genius thought: "Dude, we gotta just start running laps until we sober up! Then we can go in and get him!" Then he took off sprinting. Second funniest image: two drunk guys running laps at a fair.

When they got inside, the people there had no idea who I was or where I was taken to. My friends couldn't call me either because my phone was confiscated by the po-po by then. That plus they had to worry about how to get home, since we'd taken my car to the fair. And unfortunately for them, I had the keys. Which were also confiscated. They had to call some cousin or whatever to go pick them up.

I got my phone back with about a million missed calls and texts.

Btw, plygrndrlr, where's your story? xD

Well, seeing as no one knows me, probably never will and after this, probably won't ever want to know me, I thought I would indulge with my fat chick drunk story. here goes.....

many years ago my friend had his stag party (british for bachelor party) and please bear in mind, my friend, is one of a kind, and he invited one of his ex girlfriends as an honarary bloke (and potential entertainment). She can be best described as....well imagine if she were swimming, you would see people throwing harpoons at her mistaking her for a whale. So, the intent for my friend was that she was to be the final fling for him before he got married. So we are down our local beering it up until the pub closed. After that, my friend, the ex and myself get a taxi back to an undisclosed location and continued to pile the beers on. At this point my friend started doing his business and asked me to take polaroids (this was going back a few years before they had cellphone cameras and video cameras) as I was taking photos and thoroulghly intoxicated, I found my self in compromising positions and eventually "joined in" (ok ok, I'm not proud). My friend promptly got married the next day and about a couple of days later, my friend decided to show his new wife the polaroids of that night. They stayed married for about 6 months but then separated and eventually divorced. I now no longer drink.

lol guilty conscience? Why didnt you go away for the stag do, most people went to blackpool back in the day lol. I like caffreys, newcastle brown, not to keen on the american light beers they just dont taste the same. I went on a friends stag do to edingburgh (scotland for the yanks lol) i only knew my best friend but he begged me to go as he didnt really know anyone either as it was his gf's cousins stag do and her dad wanted him to go, anyways we ended up staying in some hostel up there it was in the middle of no where the rooms didnt even have electric plugs ive never been to a place like it lol. So we get there and obviously we dont care what the hostel is like were just there to have some fun so we head out for a good nights drink after getting back around 3am in the morning we demand that some guy who was working there opened up the bar so we could continue drinking. Credit to the guy he was a good sport and served us till the sun came up, there was only a few of us left by this time so on the way back to the room we were discussing pranks we could pull on them when i had the brain wave of stealing a fire extinguisher and blasting those that were asleep with it so we ran back to the room with the fire extinguisher chuckling away to ourselves. Being as drunk as we were obviously we were not being quiet about our actions and pretty much as soon as we opened the room door and started blasting we heard a shout from the bottom of the corridor so we ran in....

I know it sounds really fruity and prissy, but you guys should try some Pyramid Apricot Weizen.

The apricot aftertaste takes some getting used to, but it's pretty damn satisfying.

I just had the time of my life at my buddy's birthday party, and we had a stash of Weizen for ourselves after the party. Sad to say, my buddy didn't make it to the end of the party, because we made him drink Das Boot. If you've seen Beerfest, you'll know what I'm talking about.

And our homie spiked it with SoCo. So that didn't really help the cause either.

Must be a generational thing. In my day, only the jocks drank alcohol.

One of the few advantages of being native-american is that the authorities can't touch you if they find you coming back from some southwest desert after foraging for peyote all day.

Fun Trivia!!!: From what Martin Ritt film is this famous quote "Maybe if we all get thirsty we'll go to Delgado's and get some "mezcal."

Long past my drugged stupor lifestyle by now for decades, so when I do want a bit of a buzz I will drink wine (strictly red).

There are very few beers that I really like. One exception is San Miguel Scuro ice cold. Sometimes I will enjoy also a Fosters Lager if I can find it here in Italy. The Italian beers are piss, just as American beers are generally. Corona and XX are not bad.

Now, that's funny....

American brews aren't all that bad. Personally, I prefer the microbrews to the larger brewers. Sam Adams, though a larger name, is still considered to be a microbrewery, believe it or not.

I like Asahi Super Dry. Can't have sushi without it.
